Wanted: This dress. As well as the occasion to wear it. And to not feel entirely stupid wearing it.
That's a really pretty dress! I also think is casual enough that it doesn't need a specific occasion.

An exacto knife or white paint would be nice. I'm not even sure I have a preference, since I'm sure both would be a major pain to work with in this case. It is, however, a major pain to have neither available to me. What kind of office space doesn't at least have an exacto knife?

Wanted: a (loving) girlfriend. (Second time I wrote that here, IMO)
I'm looking at a friend's relationship from an outsider's point of view, and it looks like the most fun thing in the world.

Boots Botanics facial toner with rosemary and Amazonian sea silt. I've never had a toner that worked so well. I can't find anything anywhere to replace it, and I miss it so much. And I'm worried they'll discontinue it before I get back to England. :(

The only place I found it in stock online is here. They used to carry it in Target stores but it looks like they discontinued it there. I don't know if you can order from drugstore.com but if you want help ordering, I could do it and reship to you.

*gibbers a little*

That's the one, Nomi! Would you maybe possibly sorta be up for helping me order it? I can send you the cost via paypal, if you want, or if there's something from my etsy store you'd like in trade, just name it.

The Botanics line was being carried by a chain up here, but they never carried the specific product I wanted. I was SO disappointed when I found that out, after the brief euphoria of "OMG they have Botanics here!!!"

Thanks for the effort, Bean_Wannabe. :) They do still have it, somewhere else on the site. Since the major drugstore chain here doesn't list their stock online, I never thought to check the Boots website. Cheers, mate!

Newegg is always helpful with these things.

I've actually got an HP that meets up to those specs right now. It does alright but... I've only had it for a few months and I'll be surprised if it makes it to the two year mark. Planned obsolescence indeed.

Well, that's the deal with my "physical buttons" requirement - my current laptop's touchpad hasn't clicked for about a year, and if I didn't have actual buttons to rely on, I'd be screwed (it's almost 5 years old now). I'm trying to decide just how important that is to me, because I can find laptops that meet every requirement except the buttons OR the symmetry.

And as fast as computers are rendered obsolete, I really do want to hold out for the memory and hard drive - but my other option would be to get the one with 3GB/320GB and upgrade it, since it's cheaper anyway (also I have a large external drive that means the difference between 320 and 500 is more or less negligible, especially when I think I've been doing just fine on 60GB for the past 5 years without a problem).

Edit: It also occurs to me that to sell a much higher-priced laptop, a sales rep might be persuaded to toss in a USB mouse. So we'll see. This is always why I shop in store instead of online, because I have ten thousand questions and like to fondle the computers to check for my bizarre requirements.

Wanted: Rain on Sunday

Josh informed me over lunch today that I have a 30% chance of rain on Sunday and I want that very badly. I'm obsessed with Sunday rains, even moreso with Sunday morning rains and getting any rain here is rare, let alone on a specific day.

Oh, the depths of my ridiculousness. :)

Songs About Jane (Maroon 5's debut CD) came out in 2002 but I didn't happen upon it until 2003 and when that happened, it was on repeat for months on end. I couldn't sleep without it playing in the background.

That was the year before I happened to fall in love for the first, and only, time in my life and "Sunday Morning" just happened to be a favorite song from the CD leading up to 2004.

"Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in"

While that relationship is long over (and I no longer feel that way about him, I'm happy to say he is one of my best friends in the entire world), I still associate that song with being in love and that is a great feeling.

Now, whenever I've been fortunate to experience Sunday rains (morning or not), I try to spend that time in bed with my window open so I can focus on the smell of wet earth, the sound of rain drops, and that feeling I get throughout my body when I think about being in love. I may not have a person in my life who feels that way about me but dammit all to hell, I can feel that about me and life and someday, someone will feel that way about me and he'll lay in bed with me on a Sunday, listening to the rain as well. It keeps my hope alive, I guess.

I bet you were hoping for something more significant. :P

That was pretty darn significant. I think I've been hanging around my husband too long because my first thought (as far as what your explanation might be) was that maybe you were supposed to go to some sporting event that you were hoping would be rained out. :P

I like going to sporting events. I'd go to more/any but it's hard when all the "good" stuff is happening in Phoenix or San Diego and I'm stuck here. One more reason to move!

As far as significant, I meant something church related, I think. I can see people assuming Sundays and religious activity/meaning.

Some encouragement.

What I need to do on my dissertation right now is not particularly hard, it's just that editing a 100 page document is rather complex. I want to send it to my committee by noon. I keep giving up before I start. Any words of encouragement any pwebbers wandering by might have -- both to keep going and to quit playing on the Internet -- would be highly appreciated.

The new goal is 3:30 PM.

However, it probably does work retroactively as steady progress is being made and I've gotten to use the strikethrough font setting on multiple little things on my to-do list.

It's GETTING sent at 3:30. Done or not. My advisor has told me multiple times that it's fine for defense and would I please just go ahead and send it already?

In that case...

Keep going on your dissertation,
By 3:30 you must be done,
Keep striking on your To-Do-List,
You know you're having fun.

Quit playing on the internet,
(Think it's distracting just by chance?),
The committee is waiting anxiously,
For your brilliance!

You are awesome! Thank you.

It's going well. It's going really, really well. If not done by 3:30, definitely before 4:00.

I just spell-checked nearly 100 pages and found only one actual spelling typo (corrrection). The rest were statistical terms or author names. Also, a lot of extra spaces. However, I am rather proud of this. Not bad.

Just three tasks left. Somewhat more complicated than spell-check, but do-able. I'm GETTING THERE!!!
