Parkour

Wondering what all of the pwebers thought on the subject...
Late at night when the world grows still, and a peace upraises from your soul, I take that chance to blend myself, with all of nature as a whole.

Pretty sure I saw some guy practising it yesterday. Looks cool, but not for the klutzy like me, and I've got no issue with it as long as it doesn't become a public nuisance. In big, busy city areas it would bother me a lot.

It's nifty.

I'm planning on including it in my NaNoWriMo, but all I really know is gleaned from the occasional YouTube video, random Wikipedia articles, and my friend on the other side of the country that took a class in it.

But it's pretty cool and actually seems useful.

I've heard that it is exploding in France and its starting to pick up here in the states, can't wait for it to get to my area.

yeah, in a big city that would be a nuisance.

How does it actually seem useful? Cool yes, impressive no doubt, but unless you're an anime character there are generally easier ways to get from point A to point B.

Okay, I suppose if you happen to find yourself on the run from James Bond

You know... like... if you're...

Well, I used a technique I saw in a video to get to a hard-to-reach crawlspace without a ladder. So that was useful. But maybe I could have done it just by running at the wall and pulling myself up.

A boy can dream that someday he'll be chased across a rooftop by bad guys, can't he?

A rubriks cube is a challenge, but that doesn't mean that being able to solve one is actually useful.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not putting down parkour. As I said, it's cool and impressive looking, and it definitely requires amazing strength, agility, and coordination.

martial arts are useful for fighting, parkour is useful for running. don't get into the you don't run from a fight thing, what if your getting chased by the cops?

And I thought this was about the premiere of The Office this week.

This is the first time I have ever linked to a youtube clip:

Is this a "bash on Mich" day? First parkour, now Rubik's Cubes... you're tearing down all of my "skills" and interests! WHY!?!?!?

Parkour, internet sensation of 2004.
One Duck to rule them all.
