I should be studying for my math and philosophy finals. Instead, I'm here. Do you see a problem?

This thread reminded me of my senior paper when I was in high school. I had to write a 10 page report on Oliver Twist. I still haven't read Oliver Twist to this day, and I got an A on that paper. I read the back of the book, and from what I got out of it, I related why Oliver was an orphan and how that time period was economically unstable. I more or less bsed facts... I miss high school now.

I could, and probably should, be studying for my other finals this week. Or writing my paper. But Hebrew has broken my brain so I am reading.

Oh man, if there was ONE TIME when I shouldn't be procrastinating, it would be this weekend.

I'm moving in a week and a half and haven't started packing. But I'm too overwhelmed to start.

Last paper of the year due in 9 and 1/2 hours... worth 15% of my final grade...and I still have 3 pages to write... and yet I'm still managing to procrastinate.

Why am I not writing? I've set time aside to do it. I have no (non-internet) distractions. I'm well-rested and prepared.

Why the hell am I not writing?

There are few things more interesting than the paper I'm writing. Yet for some reason, sitting down and WRITING it is impossible.

Why must linear algebra be so boring. Why why why. Interestingly, I like the professor, but I just hate the subject he teaches. I heard him explaining some multivar calc to some people the other day, and I wish I could have listened to him about multivar stuff. (Not that my multivar prof was bad, though. Although I wouldn't really know, since I rarely went to lectures.)

Back to trying to get myself to do this stupid homework. Not interesting. I just want to type more here so I don't have to look at that stupid assignment. Type type type. Pants.

I found linear algebra mind-numbingly dull, too, despite liking the professor teaching it (I'd had several other classes from him). Easy, but dull. And for some reason I couldn't catch on to diff-eqs. Took and dropped and re-took and re-dropped that class a bunch of times, and finally got my advisor to just let me move past it, and after that I enjoyed everything (complex analysis, abstract algebra, topology). You'll get there, dude -- hang tough.

I want my Hatrack back.

If by that, you mean "get there to the interesting math", then it seems unlikely. Linalg is the second to last math course I have to take (not counting discrete math, which isn't bad), and thus is the second to last math course I will take. EVAR. ...hopefully

Nice to see you around, by the way.

Oh, and whilst I'm here, I only need to write a little conclusion for the end of a little paper. If I just did it, it would probably only take five or so minutes. But instead I came here, isn't that something?

The day I realized that I wasn't going to be a theoretician was when I realized I was enjoying math less and less as the classes progressed. Multivariate calc was cool, but then complex variables, boundary value problems, topology... worse and worse.

I, however, had BAD teachers. (That's the problem with attending a research oriented university -- who cares if they can teach! They each have five million dollar grants!)

Instead I spent today sleeping. And some crying. And some more sleeping. Blah.

Crap.

I just used up my whole night watching extras from Brothers & Sisters and writing an altogether too long post in LJ instead of doing my prep work for tomorrow. And it is officially bed time, so I don't die of exhaustion.

I try to convince myself that I really need these "study breaks" but I'm really just procrastinating. It's not as bad as it was in high school and college, but that's only because the fear of actually failing something has increased dramatically.

OK, end study break, back to embryology.

dominomag.com is my new FAVORITE way to procrastinate since signing for this new apartment.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

So, today I procrastinated. It's not something I do much anymore, but I feel less and less guilty about it. Instead of studying today I: went to church (which I was going to do anyway, so that doesn't really count), played games online for 2 hours, watched 3 episodes of Private Practice online, talked to my mom on AIM, emailed back and forth with my friend who actually IS studying at school, and worked on knitting a baby blanket.

I am a bad med student. :(

Ah well, time to do some reading..... about things like the dying process, adolescent sexuality, and medical ethics. What a thrill. Maybe I'll even get around to some physiology.

Reading this thread has provided a strange source of motivation. I was procrastinating on summarizing a reading for my Religion class, but I did that after reading a few posts. I seem to always forget the bad things that happen when I procrastinate whenever I'm justifying a new round of doing so in my head, but this thread brought a few back.

Now... how long am I gonna procrastinate in coming weeks on studying for my finals?

It's almost half past midnight and I have to finish cleaning my room and then find some time to sleep before getting up at 7am to make a 12 hour round-trip to pick up a friend. Where it is very cold. I'm very nervous, which has helped me to procrastinate. Easier to not think about it and such.
