Jani's People In Costumes Do Somewhat Strange Things Thread
So, considering that the previous threads in this vein didn't make the switch to the new board, what is everyone doing for Halloween this year?
As for me, 5 of my friends and I are going to be all of the characters from Clue, and we're each carrying around a different weapon. I quickly volunteered myself for Mrs. Peacock, as my roommate already has a scandalous red dress for Scarlett and I'd rather not be walking around half naked in a French maid outfit in October. I've already got a whole collection of prissy vintage clothes, and Ali, I think I might borrow the peacock feathers from the mask you made me for the night, but I promise I'll reassemble it.
Pictures to follow.
So what are y'all going to be?

little red ridinghood.
Hey, me too probably.
We're doing a "Fairy Tale" theme at work and I'm either going as Red Ridinghood or Snow White... or I'll go a little bit nuts and go as the Gingerbread House from Hansel and Gretel.

As long as I can see a picture, Jani.
Me, I'm going as Erik. You know, the Phantom of the Opera. I've been wanting to do this for almost a year, and I'm all geekily excited.

Hands of Blue.
I have blue rubber gloves, but no suit. Or rather, I have a suit, but it's a little too formal. I need more of a business suit. Chances are I'll probably have to work Halloween night anyways though.
Jan, it's too bad I don't work where you do (or live anywhere near you for that matter). I could be the beanstalk.

I'm going as a bar wench. It kinda goes along with a friend's costume, he's a beer keg. We also have a wonder woman, but we're not quite sure how she fits in.

Velma! From Scooby Doo! I have all the necessary stuff, I just have to finish dying my knee-highs and my skirt. I got the glasses and the shoes today, though, and I'm very pleased with myself.

So I'm definitely being Snow White. I went toValue Villageand found a yellow dress and a blue velvet dress, so I'm using the yellow one as a skirt and constructing a bodice from the blue velvet, then adding a red cape out of an old bridesmaid dress, stick a red bow in my hair and add an apple and voila!

I demand pictures, Jan. And congratulations on actually finding a use for a bridesmaid dress!
My crew went Good Will hopping yesterday, because the men in this Clue thing were all lacking suits. We found Colonial Mustard a full mustard yellow three piece corduroy one, complete with elbow patches, and Professor Plum a hideous tweed, although we're going to have to make him a bow tie. Miss White's maid costume had to be purchased, unfortunately, but everything else is being assembled the old fashioned way. The only thing missing is an insanely long cigarette holder a la Breakfast At Tiffany's for Miss Scarlett.
As for me, my closet is already dripping with old vintage things, so I think I can throw them all together under a mountain of pearls and make a pretty good Mrs. Peacock. I bought some tacky white lace kid gloves that I'm going to dye in tea that should add a nice touch, but I'm missing one thing. Any ideas on how to make a vintagey feeling pill boxish hat? I have the peacock feathers for it, but I couldn't find anything at good will that's going to work, so I think I'm gonna have to go the arts and crafts route. Any ideas?

you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

I dyed my skirt last night, so all I have left to do is dye the socks orange and I'm finished! I showed my best friend this morning and he was speechless with how cute it is.
I've noticed that we're all very crafty costumers here at PWeb, dying and sewing things. Isn't it more fun that way?

My mum sewed a lot of my clothes for me. I don't think I ever wore a store-made Halloween costume...
I remember having a sobbing fit because the pink and black checkered vest that went with my skirt got left in a pizza parlor and when we went back to get it, it was gone.
(This was not a Halloween costume.)
