It feels like fall!!!

*jealous* I've been craving it, ever since getting a taste of it at the lake.

I'm getting excited thinking about my next trip, because it'll be fall -hopefully the leaves will have started to turn- which is more like my winter but whatever. This means I get to play with my beanie and my gloves clothing-wise (I'm really wanting to get a turtleneck or a scarf) and I'll get a Chai ( !!) and oatmeal will make sense, as will soup and grilled cheese. The tip of my nose will freeze, the air will have a crispness to it, the stars will look prettier. I am seriously in love with life during the fall.

I'm contemplating having a picnic to celebrate this love of life, or at least stopping somewhere comfy to sketch something, but I'm thinking it may feel colder than I remember that temperature being and with it still hitting triple digits here, I'm having a hard time remembering what anything below 82 feels like. The average high in October for where I'm going is something like 66F, which is bearable when moving but may not be sitting still. I don't know. I'll play that by ear.

It rained here all day. It paused briefly around 7pm and then resumed. Yep, it feels like winter, here.

Tomorrow is the first day of fall, but it won't feel like here in the Tucson. Right now it's 82 degrees. And it won't feel like fall until October or November. It better start getting cold soon.

It's been great here, cool at night and almost too warm in the afternoon. I hope it lasts a couple more weeks as I plan to do some steelhead and salmon fishing.

Those are my two favorite fish to eat! I only recently discovered steelhead trout. Unfortunately, I have to buy them at the store. I wish I could eat your freshly caught!

This! I went to let the dogs outside and was immediately covered in goosebumps from the cold. 63F out. Nice.

Of course, it's just teasing me and will get warm again until after Halloween but it is fun to get hit with cold air, so I could run back to my room and hop in bed.

I do not like that it's only October and already in the 50's and 60's here. I'm going to visit my mom in the mountains for fall break this weekend, and apparently it's low 40's there. There is supposed to be at least two more months before the weather gets this cold!

Kelsey, you're looking at this all wrong, all wrong, I say. Cold means crisp air, scarves, hot drinks (chocolate, tea, coffee if that floats your boat), gloves, happiness, and, for you, snow eventually and that has so much fun potential (but also pain in the ass potential, I hear but whatever).

Haha, see the thing is.. I have no natural body insulation. I pretty much lose all body heat instantly. I'm currently double layered everywhere, and triple layered in some places. It's only 63 outside with little to no wind.. I love the fall! But fall for me feels more like 70's and a slight wind. It just really worries me that it's this cold already... NC is not that much further north than TX. Also, I'd rather not have snow then have to walk to class in snow, but apparently there usually isn't too much snow here, so that's good! I just wish this weather was a month and a half later. I liked wearing shorts..

Right now it's 10C with a projected high of 18, today (which really doesn't mean much). I'm very much enjoying this autumn weather and am looking forward to wearing scarves and coats and hats and gloves. I do wonder if we'll have a crazy winter and get snow this year or if it'll be a typical BC winter of a lovely grey Christmas.

Anyway, about half an hour ago I was driving up my street and I noticed the rows of trees on both sides, with their leaves of green, and yellow, and orange, and various shades in between. As well as the light leafy carpet on the street and neighbours' lawns, and I thought to myself, "hey... fall really is nice in some ways." I've always just seen it as a brief interlude between summer and winter.

Darn. I was hoping you'd dazzle us with your intellect.

I'm still not won over. Once the pretty leaves go away fall loses its charm. Scarves and crisp air may be nice novelties to you, but I prefer the smell and feel of life and warmth returning in the spring.

As someone who grew up in a neighborhood named "Maple Heights" because, you guessed it, the developer planted three or four maple trees in every lot, I've always loved the fall.

Plus, once the leaves dry out, you can go *crunch crunch crunch* for weeks at a time!

This is about a 5 min drive from our apartment. I love the way the grass is just ripped up like a carpet. Crazy.

All the trees here do, the island I live on is basically a giant rock. The hurricane ripped up TONS of trees.

I understand, then. But it really is a sight to behold.

That grass really is kinda neat to see all like a carpet!

The only times I've seen trees blown over have been in wooded areas so it was just root-base I saw, not the whole landscape gone with it!

Something similar happened around here in late August, all around town. It was one of the worst storms I've seen roll through here.



You can see me standing next to the tree, for some perspective. That was one of the trees in our lawn/park at work. In all, we lost 3, with that being the largest.

It hailed that night and knocked out power for a quarter of the city, I think it was. Fun times.

I will neither confirm nor deny my role in the tree's ultimate demise but I will say this: it wouldn't be wise to piss me off.
