Yeah, and Paul was a liar and Jesus avocated stealing...

The Bible says all that. See! See!

Paul was a liar (1 Corinthians 9:19-22)

and

Jesus advocated stealing.-Matthew 21:1-7

Okay, I'm being sarcastic. This is actually a post about taking Scripture out of context and twisting it to say what you want.

(Link has been removed. If you want to see the website...you should have been faster!)

Read it and be shocked!

Why am I suddenly remembering the Friends episode where Joey could even make the words "Grandma's chicken salad" sound dirty?

These people are experts at it!

Read it and be shocked!
Not sure if that's hilarious or disturbing. Maybe both.

People are stupid.

Reading that made me feel ill. :(
Yes, yes, I know. I prayed for forgiveness afterwards. I felt so dirty. So, so dirty.

How can reading something be a sin?

It was a joke. Sorry that I didn't make that clear. However, if you are reading something that glorifies things that are against God's standards, that could be a sin. Reading books or magazines that glorify sex and/or violence go against Scriptures such as Psalm 11:5 and Matthew 5:28.

Gee, that sounds familiar.

I guess my question is, why does this need to be shared?

Because it's funny?

Why does it need to be suppressed? It's no worse than anything in Chasing Amy or Mallrats. Or Dogma for that matter.

I don't want to offend anybody with it so I deleted it.

I think there's a difference between suppressing something, and choosing not to promulgate something.

There's many times I see things which are of appallingly bad taste, and choose not to spread it around.

Especially, I don't like when Sacred things are associated with vulgar humor.

My sensitivities have changed a bit. For one, I no longer have Kevin Smith in my film collection ;)

Although not always successful, I try to be better at following this Apostolic counsel:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Phil 4:8 )

I didn't ask for the link to be removed. I just shared my thoughts, as was requested.

Because there are people other than you on this forum who felt it was worthy of being shared, evidenced by them discussing it.

Absolutely right about how people twist words to suit their own needs. They take things out of context to prove a point. Some people use John 3:16 to justify that all people go to heaven. but John 3:17-18 says...
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He who believes in him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
It sounds just like the liberals want it at first... then the punchline that destroys their premise.

John 3:16 doesn't say anything about heaven or about everyone getting into heaven. It's not about universal salvation, but about belief.
It says that whoever believes in him will have eternal life (note: that doesn't necessarily mean heaven - it didn't mean that to Nicodemus, whom Jesus is speaking with at the time).

The reason it's so oft-quoted is that it sums up the message of the gospel in a neat little package.
