I'm getting the impression that Newfoundland is one of the most bizarre places on earth. Honestly, who steals wipers? But they took the umbrella too, so maybe they're making some awesome rain-powered vehicle--the shovel was for steering.

Someone with a more artistic talent then I needs to make a sketch of that vehicle.

Refilled bird feeders, bird bath and hung squirrel food
Cleaned litter box
Measured, cut, hemmed (with iron-on tape) and hung curtains
Re-potted ginormous plant
Started replacing cabinet pulls (6 out of 36 done)
Vacuumed all floors
Crocheted some of a scarf
Snuggled with my cats

How To Be A Kickass Karaoke Singer (Whether You Can Carry A Tune Or Not)

1. Pick songs to which you know the words.
2. If you CAN sing well, you get one "show-off" song per night, and that's it. Don't be obnoxious.
3. This is the most important rule. Pick songs that are universally beloved. Do not sing the current Top 40 (I love the current Top 40. I'm just saying that if you sing "Superbass" at karaoke people are going to take their smoke breaks asap, and if you sing "Let's Go Crazy" people are going to get on their chairs and dance).

Things I love about Brian

I love to hear him sing. I get giddy just thinking about him singing.
I love listening to him play the piano. He can improvise just about anything on the piano.
I love his opinion of my cooking. He think I'm the greatest cook in the world.
I love that he's taken me all over the world.
I love that he does the dishes.
I love when he touches the skin on my sacrum so I can fall asleep.
I love that he understands that touch is a very important thing to me.
I love that he doesn't really care that I'm not a very good housekeeper.
I love it when he dresses up (costume or fancy) and do fun things.
I love it when he takes me to the theatre, even if I always plan those date nights.
I love that he can be in (and has been in) musicals.
I love how he can build things.
I love his creativity and imagination.
I love that he's willing to sacrifice a lot so that I can stay home with our kids.
I love working out together in the mornings.
I love that he doesn't think I have to shave regularly. (Winters are cold, dang it!)
I love hearing him speak Italian.
I love that his closest friends are my cousins. (He didn't know them at all before we got married.)
I love that he is the best best friend in the entire world. His best friend from childhood was in a car accident 11 year ago and has a TBI and Brian was there for him completely until he moved back to Colorado. Now he calls him every sunday and he's even coming to visit for the weekend, because Brian invited him to come and he's willing to take on the care it takes to have him in our charge. He's an amazing friend.
I love that he sees worth in me, even if I can't.

See, it's these two things right here that let me know, even if he's on the strange (but awesome) side, he's one of the sanest people I know. You are worthwhile and loveable and gorgeous. It's why you're my first choice of wife, too.

Debating whether to buy a piece of furniture

Pros:
-I've wanted it for a long time
-It's the most beautiful one (vanity+mirror set) I can find
-I would use it everyday
-It would last me a lifetime
-I have the $ to buy it
-I may not have the money to buy it if I wait years down the line
-I love it

Cons:
-Let's be real, it's expensive. I just can't imagine spending that much money on one thing that's not a house, car, education. wedding, hospital bill etc.
-It may not fit well in my current living space (I can make it fit... just gotta get move a bookcase or something out of my bedroom)
-I might dirty/scratch the beautiful white paint
-Does not match my other furniture

My unsolicited advice is to get it. From the sounds of things, it should last a very long time and you're not making an impulsive decision on something you just saw this morning and decided you had to have it. It may not go with what you have now and may not fit particularly well but when you get older and find a different living arrangement, you can decorate around it.

Things that annoy me about my crying:
1) My face and eyes turn horribly red and don't return to normal for ages.
2) I think I drip more snot from my nose than tears from my eyes.
3) If I'm wearing my glasses, weird salty residue tends to dry on the them (from tear splatters or something, I suppose)
4) My right toe taps incessantly.
5) Aside from the nose sniffling, it is absolutely silent.

I was so confused the first time I noticed it. I didn't think I was such a splatterific crier.

Things I did in Los Angeles that made a miserable 4 day trip a bit better:

- spent two days and two nights with my SIL, Kelly
- stayed in a hotel in an area called Eagle Rock (and even saw the "Eagle Rock")
- used yelp to find a great bakery, sandwich shop, fish taco place and french restaurant
- went to Griffith Park and Observatory
- saw one new bird and got a way better picture of a second bird

Things That Are Impossible to Find or Insanely Overpriced in IL

-Sink stoppers: I checked three stores, multiple times, over a month and a half. There were none, though there were tub plugs.

-Nutmeg: Holy Overpriced Batman. $7 for a regular 2oz bottle in the one out of three stores that even carried it. It was still three times cheaper to ship this from AZ.

-Driver's Licenses: For no more than $25, you get a DL for [65-your age at time of issue] years. Mine was 48 years. In IL, you pay $30 for a 5 year license.

-Green Chile: I could get this roasted by the gunny sack in AZ. Despite living next door to a heavily Hispanic neighborhood, I can only find 4oz cans...ugh. Canned chile.

Things that Make Living at Home for the Summer Better than my College Apartment
-Bathroom is cleaned more than once a month
-Having said bathroom to myself
-Queen size bed
-No roommate
-Fully stocked fridge and cupboards (I can bake on a whim without going to a store!)
-Prettier view from bedroom window (Yes the yard is still gross and brown and barren, but it beats a parking lot)
-My books!
-Big screen TV
-Peace and quiet

On a tangential note, every time I see Matthew Crawley, I start thinking of both Backstreet Boys and Titanic. He's like some weird hybrid of Leo and Nick.

He reminds me of somebody but not either of those two. I didn't think he was attractive at ALL at the beginning but he grew on me as I got to know him.

I think ironing boards are overrated. The few times a year that I iron, I use my bed as a makeshift "board". But I guess if you iron a lot, it would be handy. Even then, I prefer the over the door, fold-up kind.

for quilting it makes a HUGE difference to have a good iron and board. But or the once and a while ironing I do it isn't a big deal to use a make shift one. I do need to go out and get one soon so I can quilt again...

I do use something when I have to block my crocheted stuff but not an ironing board (too small). I got foam mats that lock together into whatever square/rectangular shape I need. Then, I cover with towels and pin the piece to the mats to block.

Some in my family put a towel on the ground and iron over that but I found I'm just lousy enough at ironing that I can't really cut corners and expect things to turn out okay.

I will laugh if I've done this list on this page.
