I feel the same about my home-land. When you get out of the city, it can just take your breath away.

And on the topic of Mexican food, if you ever go to England, DO NOT go to a "Mexican" restaurant. The one in York has, for decoration: an old football helmet, a Jamaican flag, a poster of Bob Marley, some paintings of northern Plains Indians, and an assortment of other non-Mexican junk. And "spicy" apparently means that someone waved a bottle of tabasco over your food and figured that'd do the trick.
This sounds so amazingly awful that now I want to go to one.

There's something about going to ethnic restaurants when visiting another culture that teaches you more about that culture than going to a non-ethnic one.

Actually, I just really don't like fish. The family has it here sometimes, and I can't afford to buy something nice to eat instead, plus it's stinky.

My Favourite Teas (in no particular order):

Sainsbury's Red Label, loose for an everyday breakfast or anytime tea, best with milk and a touch of sugar
Murchie's Victoria blend, for evenings or anytime, black
Twinings Earl Grey, black or with honey
Matcha from Distinctly Tea*
Jasmine Phoesnix Pearls also from Distinctly Tea
Moonbean's Earl Grey, though they don't have it listed, sadly
Stash Double-Spice Chai, if I'm not making my own, preferably with milk and sugar
The Little Farmhouse's Caramel Pu-Erh, for which I have no link, but it's my "gaming tea" and goes well black or with milk and sugar, and a side of Munchkin
Rooibos, although I have not yet found a brand to love love love

* There are so many teas at Distinctly Tea I could drink a different one every day and it would probably take me a year and a half to get through them. No joke. It's tea-vana.

On the note of rooibos, red espresso is actually pretty good, as well as red espresso based drinks. And possibly suited to our LDS friends as the plant doesn't have caffeine.

I like the "red espresso" brand (are they just rooibos leaves?), though I tend to go for the latte or cappucino version. So maybe that one is my brand. But I need to try a few more to be sure, heehee.

It's tea-vana.
Do you know there is an actual store named Teavana? There's one in our local mall. I stop for free samples whenever I go by.

Mmmm, tea samples. We have a teashop in our mall that does that sometimes, but I hesitate to abuse it. One they actually let us take home to brew, since it sounded either amazing or terrible. It was amazing, and I'm still torn on whether to pay the exorbitant price for some of it. Green tea with rosemary and dried orange. I'm tempted to just get some sencha and add the rosemary and orange myself.

And now that I'm thinking of orange, I'm craving candied orange peels. Which are so, so, so very tasty.

I have to fight the urge to call grumpy or crying babies "poor little sausage", since I figure most mothers wouldn't appreciate it. I'll probably do it to my own kids, though.

In my defence, it's a reasonably obscure movie quote (from The Tenth Kingdom) and it's just stuck in my head, albeit pretty firmly.

Somewhere in those long 7 hours of win, Wolf calls someone "poor little sausage" and since it's one of the most-quoted movies in my family, I'm not surprised to have something from it stuck in my head.

Most Quoted Movies/Shows in My Family:
10th Kingdom
Surf Ninjas
Futurama
Alf
Star Wars

But mostly 10th Kingdom and Surf Ninjas.

We were at a stakehouse once, my sister and I and a small group. They took forever to bring out our steaks and when they did come and the serves asked us to check the doneness, they forgot the steak knives. So my sister looks over at me and deapans, "Money can't buy knives."

No one else understood why we were laughing so hard.

Most Quoted Movies/Shows in My Family*:

*Goonies
*A Christmas Story
*Back to the Future
*The Sandlot
*Hook
*Casper
*Saved by the Bell

*I can't attest to the accuracy of this list since we quote almost literally everything we've seen at least once but more often than not, more often than that.

Things I want to bring back here when I visit home:

* my pink heels
* Lays ketchup chips
* PC feta and oregano chips
* PC wings and blue cheese chips
* crunchy cheetos
* regular cheetos
* maple-stuffed cookies
* a few KD cheese packets
* a big jar of Kraft PB
* a big ol' jug of salsa (a can of tomatoes and some chillies is NOT salsa, thank you)

And I wish I could wrangle some veggie burgers and a bottle of Renee's Mighty Garlic caesar dressing, but refridgerated stuff is out. Oh, and I'm eatin' me some Little Caesar's crazy bread while I'm at it, and having the feta and pineapple pizza from the local mom&pop pizzaria I grew up on.
