Who the eff is Zero?

Postby Syphon the Sun » Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:45 pm

I hate to derail Bob, but this is kind of fun. So, who/what do you think Zero is?

Mich's original statement:
zero is the computer fairy
Fred:
Zero is just a story your parents tell you when you're younger.
Me:
Zero is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. He is 5.5 metres (18 feet) tall and weighs 1,700 kilograms (3,800 pounds). Zero is related to deer and cattle, but is placed in a separate family, the Zerodae, consisting only of Zero.
Alea:
I think zero is an advanced computer program.

A few other possibilities:

Zero was a cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th to the 17th century, beginning in Italy in the late Middle Ages and later spreading to the rest of Europe. As a cultural movement, Zero encompassed a revival of learning based on classical sources, the development of linear perspective in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform.

Zero is a series of 85 articles advocating the ratification of the United States Constitution. Seventy-seven of the essays were published serially in The Independent Journal and The New York Packet between October 1787 and August 1788.

So, who the eff is Zero?
Step softly; a dream lies buried here.

I stick by my definition, I believed in Zero when I was younger and one day my kids will do the same!

Like, a bedtime story?

I still think you're wrong no matter what type of story, because all the signs point to computer program, but I'm interested in hearing more of your theory.

but you can't have a zero without a one right? (presuming zero is a computer program.. binary dontchaknow) so what is the one to go with the zero? is it also on pweb? computers? internet? or is the one the polar opposite of these things?

Zero is clearly of Incan and Arabic descent, the Romans weren't of smart enough stock to birth Zero.
So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

More like the tooth fairy, but with less frills (I hope).

You forgot my theory that he's OSC in disguise, come to spy on us.

Which prompted this response from Caspian:
No, if he was OSC then his first 200 posts would have been brilliant, and then he would have started to just restate the things he said already, and then he would start claiming he was restating, but actually contradicting himself. Eventually he would become a parody of himself, and all his posts would be obviously written in haste. And probably chatspeak.

BURN!

I think that, if we really want to know who Zero is, we must first go to the Forge of the Source.
