Spelling Nazi! words you always misspell

Postby locke » Fri Nov 21, 2008 3:13 am

for me words I always misspell are

oppurtunity
marraige

naturally they're supposed to be opportunity and marriage, but I always always get them wrong the first time I time them. I love the right click function that lets you click on a red underlined word and replace it with the correct spelling. :)

Until I was probably at least twelve, I'd swear up and down that "visit" was "vist." I don't know how I got that idea, but everytime someone corrected me, I knew knew I was right.

Lately, I keep putting two m's in tommorow, instead of 2 r's (like it should be: tomorrow). Don't know why is that.

For me it is "guarentee". I know that something is wrong there I just cannot for the life of me figure out what it is.

I also tend to misspell apparently, replacing the "e" with another "a".

I always seem to get "occur" wrong, and "success" too.....

I always initially spell "recommend" as "reccommend."

And, I think I've mentioned before, I always have to think about "license." It just feels like it ought to be "liscense."

accomadate, accomodate, accommadate

should be accommodate

sigh, phonics I am hooked on you!

for some reason tomorrow looks more appealing to the eye as tommorrow but tommorow looks awful.

I used "to" and "too" wrong for a long time... until someone taught me differently. There are many words I spell wrong, but I'm pretty good at keeping everything correct. The hardest word for me to overcome thus far would be "consciousness". I would always spell it wrong. That was pretty difficult to figure out a few years ago.

If it weren't for Jim Carey and Bruce Almighty, I wouldn't be able to spell b-e-a-utiful.

Mike is and will forever always be "Mike" because I can never remember whether it's supposed to be ae or ea.

Definately. Defanitly. Definitly. I definitely depend on that little red line.

I used to have the same problem with tomorrow, but it was Shakespeare that turned me right - since they always just say "'Morrow".

Jan, I remember definitely because it has the word "finite" in it and it's talking about something that's very sure/set... sort of like things that are finite.

It helps me.

I spelled alot as one word until I kept getting it corrected in HS English papers. I spelled seperate wrong until we read "A Separate Peace" in school. And I got neccesary wrong for a long time. I think i get them right most of the time now. So, in review: a lot, separate, necessary.

I also tend to misspell weird, replacing the places of the "i" and the "e" - creating wierd. It seems right to me, but the Google Toolbar's spellcheck tells me there's a problem with it.

One word that I always have trouble is is restaurant. The sad part is sometimes I am so far off that no spell checker knows what I am talking about, so I have to start Googling restaurant by name. :)
