I'm doing my whole apartment (or at least, the interesting parts. I'm leaving out closets) since I'm the only one who lives here so it's sort of all my room. This is the pretty normal state of my apartment.
Kitchen:
Target had cute owl stuff this fall! I love owls.
Living Room:
Notice that I have largely given up studying at my desk, as evidenced by laptop on coffee table.
Memo screen next to bookshelf. Some of you may recognize items on it that you've sent me over the years!
Couch
DVD collection + Owl collection + card collection + super awesome giraffes I bought for myself in Africa. I forgot to take a picture of the top of the other shelf and the really awesome ebony bowl.
Transitional: (aka: stairway)
Poster at the foot of my stairs
Bedroom:
Bed in winter mode (meaning 2 comforters. I do generally like having the curtains closed)
Reading nook + Rice poster
Photo collage over bookshelf seen in previous post
Bathroom... kind of messy, but I just added the ducks to the mirror. Usually, I have those stuck up in my shower, but they won't stick to the weird crap this shower is made out of. Sadly, due to blow dryer wire, you can't see my ducky collection.

And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

You all have awesome rooms! I took this other picture of my room yesterday, but didn't take one of the opposite wall. My room is only so tidy because I had to clean it to put in the rug, being able to see the floor is an interesting novelty.
I have two more framed posters at home in missouri that I want to put up in my room on the opposite wall (not pictured, blank except for a poster of empire of the sun), I just have to have my dad ship them out to me. They're of Stand By Me (one of my favorite poster images ever, but the international version without the annoying, if amusing text about pez) and A.I.
I'll probably build another bookshelf exactly like the white one and stack it on top of the white one in the next month or two. though running out of space has been a decent deterrent on buying more dvds and books. then again, it really hasn't.

that's the poster I want on that wall, or the style, except I want it in english an I want to the two sheet version that's just a mini poster (12"x18")
I'm very particular on the posters I want. I'll probably have to shell out several hundred to get one that I want.
I like this one too, considering it, even if it's Italian it's cool and unique
or I might cheap out, and just get this, which is my favorite of the regular one sheet american styles for htis movie

Kimmie, I didn't realize you collected duckies. I always assumed Jan and Janelle had the market cornered there. Very cool apartment; love the kitchen.
---------------------------------------
(Thanks to Wil, for helping a technologically stupid person out. These are the same, but fewer, pics as before...just linked so you can, you know, see what they're of.)
Oh, and yes, I realize my room is cluttered. I need more space! This is my stuff from before college, during and after college, and stuff from my classroom.
My mom had been going on and on about having her own tree and craft/work room at home for years, so when my little brother moved out, I gave him 3 years before I took over his room and made this. I'm not actually finished, but I joke that my tree, like all trees, takes years to grow.
Since I can't have greenery outside, I decided to bring it inside.
This is the headcase to my bed (that I'm not taking a picture of because it's the most boring part of my room). Please note, the Holy Water by Harry Potter, in case of vampire or demon attack. Also, a card from Janelle, a bear from Ratey, and some washcloths made by Ali all make their home there.
After seeing this, I realized...I need to dust. The colorful little globes (cracked-glass ornaments) were hanging, but I got paranoid they'd fall and break, so there they are. The little things they're resting on were gifts from Fris' parents. And the actual globe of the world, in the dark, shows constellations.
Bookshelf with my Fisher Price little people house on the top, goblet collection on the top shelf, books on the rest...as well as other little knickknacks (mugs, pictures, wine glasses, etc).
Goofy collection! Started in 1994.
That would be board games, hat, Disney Fairy up top, radio and CDs next, DVDS all the way down to the bottom, which is where my Ender books and other fav. sci fi books go.
Some stuff from the school, my old radio, tea accessories.
The bottom of my SW bookshelf. It has my geography and science ed books/literature on the bottom two shelves, SW trinkets on the rest.
The top of my SW bookshelf.

I live in the dorms.
My Desk
my bed complete with baby blanket and simon the bear
the shelf above my bed (with my pee-no-evil bears)
Top of my dresser. It seems my major is strangling out the other belongings.
The wall above my bed, decorated only with things people have made me.
To whom it may concern: I have a lovely picture of a train over the staircase at my parent's house. I thoroughly enjoy it.

I love this thread!
One of the favourite parts of my apartment is the fireplace (it doesn't work, unfortunately):
A closeup of the books on top (with superman and librarian action figures):
and since people are showing these off... yes, I still have VHS... and that is a record player. I'm old school.

I should explain a few things On the fireplace: two elephants belonging to Paul brought from his Dad from India. The clock is made by my Grandpa. The Sock monkeys are made by Paul and I when I was pregnant. The woman holding a water jug is from Paul's trip to Mexico, there's a rock from my trip to Mexico and the two cameras are from my Grandpa and my Dad.
I was just noticing you can see a glimpse of the Worthing Saga under my movies, as well as the top of Xenocide. Then I noticed how many of the pictures in this thread contain OSC books. What an odd coincidence.

Thank you. I think so, too. (I'm allowed to be vain about my room, right?)Star Wars! so awesome. Your room(s) rock.
Well, I trust you so you're more than welcome to play with my things (touch my stuff).Alea, I see why you can't keep you nieces and nephews out of your room when they're over. I want to play with everything!
I'm a little sad, though, thanks to my nephews. I had a little car...like a Hot Wheels, I think, but miniature (less than an inch in length). Whenever they come over, they ask to play with it. They were here a few days ago with their mom (bad visit where she is involved) and must have snuck into my room and swiped it because it's gone. I've had that since I lived in CA, so I was no older than 9, probably closer to 6 or 7, when I got that. Sentimental value and such. *sigh*
Pretty much my exact sentiments.Aww, Jan, it looks so cozy! I love the fireplace.
But the wall looks more like a burnt orange than a red to me. Then again, I've always sucked just a little bit with identifying colors. Either way, I appreciate people who aren't afraid to throw some real color on their walls.
Will: Your walls, more than those of anyone else, make me sad. If you don't want to put your own pictures up (dumb, by the way ) then at least put up someone's art.
HBC: Your room reminded me of how little I miss my dorm room. I hate brick walls and even more, I hate having no real privacy. Yours looks cozy enough, though.
This thread makes me happy.

The rug was definitely a worthwhile investment, it is now a pleasure to walk in my room. so much cozier. I am very pleased.
Alea, you would be hard pressed to keep me away from the star wars tower of amazing! I'd probably have to touch/play with all your toys. at the very least pick a lot of them up. though I'd ask your permission first, naturally.
the car thing is sad.
My mom has a lot of my old toys (bravestarr mainly, and ninja turtles, hotwheels, some transformers he-man and batman) in storage. a few years ago I might have brought them to LA and figured out some way to display them (all well played with) then I saw forty year old virgin and figured no toys.

*nod* As long as you were careful, I'd let you. My 'don't touch my stuff' thing is mostly thanks to my brothers; I'd lend them things that I managed to keep functional for years and they'd come back with them broken. That and they didn't always ask.I'd probably have to touch/play with all your toys. at the very least pick a lot of them up. though I'd ask your permission first, naturally.

Yes, yes I will. And if he won't let me hang his work, we'll have to hang mine, and i'm not sure how good stick figures will look all over the walls.

I don't think so... but it would make sense I suppose. I can't find anything to say it is, but neither can I find anything to show that it isn't. Interestingly enough, while looking through the monitor information, the right older one has been active for 24,136 hours (2.75 years) and the right for 6,505 hours (0.7 years). That's 2 and three quarter years I've spent on this monitor alone wasting time... ouch!

I've been trying to make a good PhotoSynth of my apartment, and I'm pretty much failing, but here it is: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=C73 ... ED53D055B3
We worked hard to try to give it this "library" feel, thus the warmer lights an brownish hues and maps everywhere.
We like it.

I completely forgot that that was required! Well, if you ever feel the urge to play around with fun image-stitching software, I highly suggest checking this out. Maybe I'll post real pictures later, but it would require me to sign up for an account somewhere.Hey, boss, you ask a bit much of me there; I'd have to install something to view that and I think my computer would keel over if I tried.

Twinny, how about a game of "If you show me yours, I'll show you mine"? I've been slowly cleaning my room and likewise, slowly acquiring things for when I move out of my mom's house. It's fun to see the pile in storage (ok, my closet) get bigger but it's also more than a little frustrating knowing it'll be there, in my case, for two more years.
I think some of my future-use stuff might have ended up in this thread before but certainly not all/most of it.
Willing to commiserate/share?

I'll gladly show you mine! I just have to start getting it into piles and such. My favorite things I've acquired so far are probably my dishes and my coffee pot!
You'll see, i'll take pictures! Hopefully soon.

Posting for Alea:
Our artist friend has been back at work on the boy's mural. I thought Alea would love a picture of it so far.
Coming soon: Before and after shots of linoleum/carpet -> laminate wood floors in my kitchen, dining room, entry way & guest bath (happening tomorrow) and plain white walls -> nursery of cuteness and sophistication for our baby girl (happening within the next couple of weeks). I might possibly include pics of the fixing of our ceiling after a shower leak this morning, but I'd rather not think about THAT one. I'll just think about the other 2 FUN projects.

Yeah, they are just regular old wall paints. She is super-talented!
I know it's a link to a FB album, but I put them there for my husband, so that's where they are. If anyone is interested in before and after pictures of our new floor, check them out: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 89aaa1d212
Also, please note that the shirt I'm wearing is only on my body because it's so hideous that I didn't care if I got paint on it. I would never wear it in public.

Ooh, love the color of your new floor. We have a lighter color that goes well with our furniture and all but I'm not in love with it overall.
Also, what's left to do in the baby's room? And, is that pink and chocolate brown or am I failing at the girl/non-colorblind skill of knowing/recognizing colors?
