World of Warcraft

Postby Jebus » Mon Oct 09, 2006 5:24 am

I'm thinking of replacing this five-year old piece of junk of a computer for christmas and that means I'll be able to play new computer games instead of buying old ones all the time (though the discount prices are nice). So I'm considering getting into WoW in time for the expansion that's coming out. But it's an expensive game with monthly fees, so who here has played it and what was your impression of it? Is it worth it? What classes have you played and which one do you think is the most fun?

EDIT: And also fill me in a bit on what PvP is like and if it's better to go with a non-PvP server.

::Looks around::

Hmm, I expected a bigger WoW contingent on PWeb, maybe I should have posted this on Hatrack...

WoW is definitely worth it. The only class I've not enjoyed is shaman. I've never done a PvP server, but most people I talk to say normal servers are better. Whatever you go with, you should definitely go alliance. The people tend to be a lot friendlier.

According to Blizzard's online store, it's a PC/Mac hybrid CD, so you should be able to pick it up just about anywhere that sells PC games. Although I would recommend checking the box at the store to make sure it includes the Mac version before you buy it.

There's also a 10-day free trial available, so you may want to try that first.

I think you meant viruses. There's plenty of games for Mac, yet we're quite lacking in the virus catagory.

You've not changed one bit..."You're" quite lacking in a number of categories, and games is still one of them whether you'd like to admit it or not. Maybe not as much as you used to be, but you still are.

At this point someone should step in and tell you that Linux is the only real operating system, thus uniting both Mac and PC fanboys for a brief period.

But it's ok, because he started it.
