So... I'm considering upgrading my RAM and I was poking around my computer properties and I realized that I've never shared this with you guys! I named my computer Ender_Wiggin in the hopes that if I ever use a public network and another Ender fan notices, they'll come and talk with me! Hahaha

Image

Mine is Bombadil when I'm booted into OS X, and OldManWillow under Windows. I think I have something clever for Linux as well, but I've forgotten what it is. And my iPod, which has a cracked screen but still works, is Anduril.

Also, all of my storage devices are named after places/things from Sci-fi franchises.

My WiFi network has been named "The Giant's Drink" for quite a few years now. All of my devices, however, are named with 007 since I call myself Platypi007 online. Laptop007, Incite007 (my old LG Incite phone), Captivate007 (Samsung Galaxy S Captivate) and so on.

I... had never seen this video. I had no idea. I am mesmerised.

That is possibly the worst, most dissonant music video I've ever seen. I'll never be able to hear that song the same way again.

Wow.

Warner Music Group apparently hates America, and won't let me watch Seal. I don't think I've seen the official video before, though.

Heh, usually it's the other way around and the Brits can't watch the American videos.

I see your Hulu and raise you iPlayer. Which, since Doctor Who is the closest thing to real sci-fi currently producing new episodes, is the only online video that matters.

Fixed that for you, because DW seems to be the only sci-fi show still producing any episodes. Fringe is on the way out, and everything else vaguely "genre" still on television looks to be supernatural horror/soaps (which depressingly is the same garbage I now find on all the sci-fi/fantasy shelves on the bookstores around here). :bash: :bash: :bash:

And Merlin! And all sorts of delightful nature documentaries!

Sooo... anyone else have any thoughts about that ridiculous music video?

I kissed a fish once... or twice. It's a crazy activity/ice breaker we do once a year for the teens I mentor. It's not like you imagine. You'd think it'd be slimy and gross, but actually the fish has these pointy teeth that feel prickly. Oh, the things I've done in the name of youth ministry.

Anyways, these videos are amazing if you're into space stuff.

I'm pretty sure they were on my campus when I was visiting a few years back...and, I still don't get it. I don't hate it, I'll follow links, listen to conversation about it, whatever, but I have never, ever been interested enough to even check the website on my own. I seriously do not get it.

I've officially started on the somewhat excessive talking to myself when in my apartment (and completely alone). I've always talked to myself but never quite like this.

It worried me the first time I was aware it was happening. I've since gotten a little more used to it, I say on day 2.

I have a little bag of old US wheat pennies. I like the little guys and would be sad to see them go but at the same time, would understand them going away, since they're more expensive to make than they are worth.

Somehow I've gotten the reputation at work of being a funny person, which is kind of strange, given how little I tend to speak at work unless spoken to. It started with two of my updates for the staff blogs, included my note while calling dibs on a book to read for our next staff meeting, and somehow a "Happy Friday" message near a turtle I drew turned into further proof that I am funny.

Asst. Director: *noticing the flip calendar at the YS service desk* Oh! who drew the turtle?!
Me: I did.
Coworker: I assumed it was you. Whenever something funny happens or shows up, I automatically assume it's you now.
Asst. Director: You can draw?
Me: A little.
Asst. Director: *devious look in her eye*
Me: *lots of confusion*

I don't tend to consider my sense of humor as being...funny. Strange. Unique. But funny? Not so much.

I am currently waiting for a CSR on the phone and they have no music, just silence and an occasional "All representatives are currently busy. Your call is important to us and will be answered in the order it was received. Please continue to hold for the next available representative."

Kind of freaky, actually. I'd take some bad music about now.

It is a goal/dream in my life to one day be able to do a full on Kevin Bacon in Footloose style dance somewhere in Chicago.

The way this song on my MP3 player made me add swagger to my walking yesterday, I was afraid it might happen sooner than I wanted.

I was asked, by an Indian (of Asia, not a Native American), if I was Indian.

He then asked if I was a student, likely because of my backpack, and seemed intrigued that I'd be in that suburb, all the way away from Chicago. Clearly I radiate a longing to be in the city.

Then he kind of followed me to a seat on the train.

And that interaction was over.

Yeah. There was no point to it. Randomness!

I have a name for this: "awkward public transit friends". They're the best. Actually, I call them "awkward bus friends", but that's only because we don't have trains around here except for Amtrak and freight.

At least they're not making pennies, anymore. What's insane is that we continue to waste huge amounts of money on them south of the border.
