This is hilariously fun and I have work to do before flying to Texas tomorrow but I'm too distracted!
Edit four hours later: "Hahaha! This animation is just like an episode of MS Paint Adven-- oh. Oh, this is on the MSPA forums."
This all makes so much more sense, now.

I think I've mentioned Picture Pages with Bill Cosby before but something moved me to look it up on youtube today. I had the coloring book and Mortimer Ichabod marker as a kid and I would follow along and draw with him. But I was SO disappointed when I got the marker and it didn't make the awesome drawing noises that Bill Cosby's made. That is the coolest part of the show. *beep boop beep boop*

Are passive sentences bad? I wrote almost exclusively in the passive voice. Not a conscience thing, it was just how things came out from mind to computer screen. The most common compliment that I received on my writing that it was thoughtful. I wish I had some undergrad samples of mine around still to see how this thing would evaluate it. Alas, my laptop is kaput.

In my junior English class our teacher had us highlight all the times we used passive voice in our essays. I had at least 43 instances and she wanted us to cut it down to four. It was rough.
I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

I remember seeing this a lot when I wrote papers for school. If I recall correctly, the dialog that shows you the word count (which I checked quite often, trying to reach however many words) also showed the Flesch-Kincaid score and grade level or whatever. I was always curious as to what the hell it actually meant (but not enough to actually, yaknow, actually look it up).I just learned about the Flesch-Kincaid readability test and found out that MS Word has the feature built in.
Fixed :)Are passive sentences bad? My writings are almost exclusively written in the passive voice.

This was only extremely fun to read and well-done until I got to a certain point. Until--Double post because this is amazing:
PREQUEL
Mich if you don't click that link and read that in the next few days, I won't be able to be your clone/double/whatever anymore.
I was going to post this in the konami code thread, but you don't really need to know anything about video games for this; it's just a very fun story. Of course, some knowledge of Oblivion or maybe The Elder Scrolls in general might make it a bit better because of inside jokes/references, but it's still very kickass otherwise.
Then I lost it and cracked up. For several minutes. Then came here and posted. We are doing this. We are making this happen.

Is that a reference to the game or am I missing something else entirely here?
My favorite is in the last updated post (unless he did move to a site and no one told me about it); "Drugs. But also practice", from Asotil. I've used that in various situations over the past 2ish weeks.

Speaking of complete randomness, as I was falling asleep last night (closer to being asleep than awake), my mind wandered over the phrase "Gay or European?" which is from a Legally Blond the Musical song, and I got stuck on the word European.
Being more or less asleep, it had a very dream-like quality to the whole thought process, so when I got to the "No, you're-a-peein'" joke my head inserted, I thought to myself I had better wake up just then so I could either write a note or repeat it enough to remember when I woke up again in the morning.
I have no idea why it amused me so much last night. It's not even an original joke. Brain, thou art uninspired.

Haha, yes, the hug. "you can't chicken out of a f****** hug", I loved that part.
I have read some of Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff before, though, and it's kinda funny. It's hard to remember specific parts of it, though, since I also just find it... really confusing. Just, I don't really know what it's making fun of, or where it's coming from or whatnot. But I can still see the humor in it.
Well, I tried. I have in the past tried to read Problem Sleuth, and later on Homestuck, but I just can't get into it. I'm not sure if Hussie's just too meta or something, or I just find him kinda boring, but I just couldn't keep reading. I also hate his character design. Not necessarily the art itself, but I see art of the Homestuck trolls a lot, and... it's just unpleasant to look at. It's just a matter of style, I guess, nothing to do with skill or anything.What. Alea not getting it I understand, but you've not read MSPA? For shame, sir.

To be honest, I finished the whole thing feeling pretty good about men in general. Just one or two things that I found annoying.

I find Question 8 funny when in Question 1 the majority said they valued loyalty. Then again, maybe that's the same group of guys who wouldn't dump a girl if she got fat. I wonder how many women would dump a guy who got fat.Why do I read this, again?

Also, what is it with guys and threesomes? I don't understand it. Then again, I'm very strictly pro-monogamy so...

I think I've discussed this before, last year when whoever posted last years results, but I've had this conversation ad nauseum and still don't get it. "I like one of everything so two seems even better." Which just goes back to my not understanding how men can separate sex so much from emotions. I don't care if the hottest guy, subjectively speaking, walks into the room and offers; if I'm not feeling anything emotionally for him, the physical means nothing.
If I ever date anyone who seriously wants threesomes as part of his sex life, he needs to dump me and go seek it elsewhere because me trying it to make him happy would end us up in the same place anyway.
Besides the fat thing (because I am no longer surprised and thus slightly less annoyed by the threesome thing), the big thing that annoyed me was this:
Lifestyles Question 21:
Neither are okay! It doesn't matter if it "balances." Two wrongs don't make a right, all that jazz.Yes, but men put a lot of value on women's looks, so it balances out

There were bunch of high school-age kids running today, and I could not figure out why.
Me: What is this, a running party?
Roommate: It's probably the cross country team.
Me: Cross country? They're not in season. Don't they run in the fall?
Roommate: It is their season. It's August.
Me: Oooh. It is getting close to fall isn't it? I keep thinking it's still the middle of summer.

Yes! I keep thinking/saying things like, "That doesn't happen until August" (implied, "So that's a ways off"). And then a minute later it dawns on me that the 8 I'm typing at work all day means August.Me: Oooh. It is getting close to fall isn't it? I keep thinking it's still the middle of summer.

(Double-dog dare you to double-post)
I'm getting into one of those stages again where I'm hyper-aware of what I'm saying, to the point where it all sounds really stupid to me, and this is resulting in me freezing up or saying something really awkward, badly timed, rude, or any combination thereof. This is happening in all spheres of interaction and while I can stomach it happening online and, to a slightly lesser degree, on the phone, being that way at work is not cool. Thankfully there I've only managed to be awkward and badly timed, not rude. I think.
I suck so bad at small talk and conversations in general. Besides the awkward, it makes me feel selfish. I don't not ask questions because I don't care or want to know, I don't ask because I'm afraid.
