"Sword of Truth" TV series? siiiighh....

Talk about anything under the sun or stars - but keep it civil. This is where we really get to know each other. Everyone is welcome, and invited!

"Sword of Truth" TV series? siiiighh....

Postby Eaquae Legit » Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:18 pm

Sam Raimi, how could you?

Richard looks ALL WRONG.

I have no idea how they will mangle to story to make the Mord-Sith palatable. Or the whole "seduce and murder young children so they can take you to the underworld" thing. Or heck, any of it.

It's a bad idea. The first book was enjoyable, and could (with some tweaking) make an interesting movie or two. But a series? Is it going to go on and on and on forever like the books did? Is it going to be as skeevy and sexual?

Please let it die a quick death.

Are we sure this is an actual TV series, and not just a series of TVs? ;)

That was my reaction, too, Ollie. Who is that skinny little kid?!

Oh man, they did that hair waving turn shot.

On a side note, EL did you see Bonekickers on the BBC? I had a slight giggle at the thought of an actual real history person watching it.

No, but I got the blow-by-blow from housemates. I still may go watch it when I need a good giggle.

Richard is pretty much supposed to be all that is man. That shrimpy little guy is not. Also, her hair is too short.

You're right. Before when I said he was too young, it's because I couldn't think of what I really meant... and that was manly. Almost archtypally so.

Has anyone seen this yet? It's bad. Oh God, is it bad. It is so bad, the word bad is insufficient. Let's set aside for a second that it has NOTHING to do with the book(s). Nothing. Well, okay, they use some of the same character names -- but they're different characters. And the plot has all but vanished. It's really just awful.

At first, I thought the purpose of doing it as a series was so that they could be at least somewhat truthful with the plot of the book. You know, take their time and really let it develop. But no. They butcher the ever loving s*** out of it. So why even wait? If this is all he wanted, why didn't Goodkind cash in on this years ago? I thought the whole point to waiting was to ensure something real came out of it.

It's like Hercules, but without the fun parts. Or, let me put it another way. It's like that dreadful SciFi "Wizard of Earthsea" adaptation, only WORSE (if you can imagine it). Ugh.

Shame on you, Raimi. Shame, shame, shame on you -- you talentless hack.

Damn, (is that swearing) I forgot about the show. I am sorry Ollie. :)

And I do not know I still would like to see it because no offense; but I tend to have a different opinion of shows that people here think are bad. I hope no one takes offense to that statement, it is just my opinion.

I saw the first episode and yeah, it was pretty bad. I don't plan on watching it again.
