Jayelle is healthy, resting and recovering well, sends her love to everyone here, and will probably be home on Monday.

ETA: Oh yes, details. Born just before 3pm on Friday the 22nd, weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce. Her name is Guinevere, and she's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Awwww! Yay! And I love the name!

You and Jan featured with baby in my dream on the night of the 21st, which would be weird if it weren't for having read pweb just before bed and the being overdue bit.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the congrats. We are so excited (and tired). It was a relatively short labour for a first time birth - about 22 hours from the first hints of contractions to "it's a girl".

I can say without any hyperbole that she is the most beautiful baby ever to be born in the history of the universe.
Pictures don't do her justice, but here's another one:
Image

Thanks again. I can't believe she's really here!

Jan, are you home already or posting from the hospital? And when you feel up to it, I'd love to here more about the delivery (here or in the girly thread). Congrats again!

Love the family portrait there and that she's smiling in her ducky outfit. I say keep the pictures coming; I'm enjoying them very much.

On the topic of baby hands...I love it when babies grip an adult's finger. There's just something about the difference in size that I can't get over. Little person, little hand, big person, big hand.

And the smell of baby. Well, some of the smells of baby I can live without, but the overall, non-puke, non-diaper smells are like a drug. I used to keep a sock from my nieces and nephews when they were babies because it retained their baby smell so well.
