Horrific News Story

Postby Jayelle » Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:57 pm

A Man was stabbed and then beheaded on a Grayhound bus last night

This happened not too far from Winnipeg. The graphic details were being told on the radio as my alarm went off this morning. It was literally my wake up call.
I've been feeling ill all day just thinking about it. It sounds like something from a horror movie, not from real life - and not from so close to home. I've even traveled that route by Grayhound a couple of times.
I feel sick.

That's absolutely horrible. Now i'm even more freaked out at traveling by bus. I know it's very rare, but that stuff will stick with you no matter what.

I heard about this early this morning. I refused to click the links until this afternoon. The headline said enough, and my brain is still refusing to imagine it. I am so glad that no one else was hurt and that people are getting prompt counselling and care.

I wish my brain would do the same.

Wow. That's terrifying. Even though that's nowhere near me, it freaks me out that I almost took the bus home from Oklahoma. (Ended up taking a plane. 1 hour for plane...like 5 hours driving. It was cheaper.)

Yeah, that's what I woke up to on the news this morning. Fortunately not radio news. I'm not even sure how to respond to it yet.

This incident was featured in my nightmares last night. Ugh. Truly horrific.
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant

Ugh. Guys, I'm having trouble dealing with this incident.
The attack was totally random, disgusting and traumatizing. Everything about it is deeply, deeply disturbing.

I don't want to live in a world where horror movies are real.

I don't want to raise my kid in a world like this.

perhaps it's just my sheer distance from this, or the fact that i'm american and i hear about violent crap on the news whenever i turn on network TV, but i feel more alarmed at how blase i am about this article. perhaps i watch too much CSI or movies. but my mind was more wondering what the killer's motivation was. if he just felt like killing and chose randomly, if he was annoyed at the man's music (headphones) and snapped... was it a hit? weird public transportation murder story anyway.

My God, it's straight out of a horror movie... How could anything like that happen outside of Hollywood?

Actually--I kind of feel the same way, which bothers me. And I don't even watch that bad of movies (I can't stand gore).

What could make somebody do something so...sick?
