Learn PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python and C#.
If you must learn the former, at least do it after some of the others, so perhaps you'll be less likely to start making all of your sites in that overblown templating language.
Get my great-grandfather's comic strips translated and online.
Dude, do want. (Well, maybe; I obviously know nothing about them)

Noted.

My great grand-father being the first generation Norwegian-American that he was, the strip is, surprisingly, about Norwegian-Americans and their endeavors to adapt to an American way of life. The humor is parchingly dry for the most part, with the occasional slapstick thrown in, and much of it does not survive well with a literal translation, nor has it weathered the past ninety years terribly well. It's interesting, though.

Some people in town are trying to put together some Norwegian-American heritage museum type deal, and the thought is to publish the strips on their site to drive traffic. There are something like 800 strips. If I roll them out three strips a week, it'll run for over five years in online form.

Things to do this summer:
Read the two books for the project
Finish said project
Pass theoretical driver's license exam
Pass practical driver's license exam, thereby gaining my Driver's license

but first of all
HEAL UP ALREADY! dammit
Who controls the British crown? Who keeps the metric system down?
We do! We do!
Who leaves Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We do! We do!
Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Gutenberg a star?
We do! We do!
Who robs cavefish of their sight? Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do, we do!

Things To Do

-CLEAN ROOM - the fact that I am now cleaning it for the, oh, hundredth time in the past 7 months and have technically not finished once in all that time says something about how necessary this is [In Progress]

-Beg Mom to take donations to Goodwill

-Move books I don't want to living room so Mom can take them to the Friends of the Library [Done]

-Gather recyclables and harass Mom to take me to recycling drop-off *grumbles about AZ not being awesome enough to make recycling mandatory*

-Calm myself down after getting pissed that I cannot drive and realizing for the millionth time I am dependent on people who are not me

-Pick out 5 outfits for work and iron them. De-linting them will be done daily, as the dog's hair will just reattach itself if I try now [Done]

-Get angry at dog for making my entire room look like an Ewok or Wookiee if I don't vacuum all day

-Eat [Done]

-Fill the water pitcher w/ filter with water, so I have tasty -possibly through placebo effect- water [Done]

-Quit saying "I'll start in 15 minutes" and playing on Pweb so I can finally start, a whole three and a half hours after I woke up

Things To Do Before The Move In October:

-Tell family [done]
-Tell friends [done]
-Tell roommate and find someone to take over my room in the apartment [done]
-Be ruthless and make a list of books I'm willing to part with. Sell them. [done]
-Pare down my wardrobe and donate whatever I don't keep. If I haven't worn it in a year--IT GOES! [done]
-Shred and dispose of any unnecessary paper. Client manuscripts, any bills or statements from before 2007, etc. [done]
-Sell my bed for best offer. [done]
-Coordinate furniture with David and sell whatever we aren't bringing with us. [done]
-Get rid of all that useless crap I keep in those pretty boxes on my dresser. I know it's in there, even if I can't see it. Empty bottles and bits of ribbon way too small to ever be of any use. Get rid of all the junk! [done]
-Get my security deposit back [done]
-Move into David's studio for those three weeks in September. [done. er... moved in a bit sooner. clearly.]
-Pack. [done]
-Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. [done]

Undoubtedly much more to come!

I did it ! Saturday am. at daylight. It was a little spookier than I planned it and I feel a bit betrayed as no one ever said a word. At least nothing heard yet.

I must prepare for my Ultimate Classic Disney Musical Cartoons marathon! In preparation I am asking around for copies that friends have, and here is what I have and what I think I'm missing:

- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
√ Pinocchio
- Dumbo
√ Bambi
- Cinderella
- Alice in Wonderland
- Peter Pan
- Lady and the Tramp
- Sleeping Beauty
√ 101 Dalmations
- The Sword in the Stone
√ The Jungle Book
√ Aristocats
- Robin Hood
- The Rescuers
- The Fox and the Hound
- The Black Cauldron
- The Great Mouse Detective
- Oliver & Company
√ The Little Mermaid
- The Rescuers Down Under
√ Beauty and the Beast
√ Aladdin
√ The Lion King
- Pocahontas
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- Hercules
- Mulan

Obviously I can't have and watch all of them, but I would at least like Hercules, Mulan, Oliver & Company, The Black Cauldron, Sword in the Stone, and Robin Hood. Maybe Snow White. The rest I've seen often or recently enough. Oh, woe is me.
Shell the unshellable, crawl the uncrawlible.

Row--row.

1. Learn to make bread pudding.
2. Learn to make a delicious fried chicken with secret herbs and spices.
3. Find another job. One that pays well, preferably.
4. Edit at least four writing samples to submit to firms in August (one employment law sample, one trademark law sample, one SSI sample, and one corporate law sample).
5. Send résumés and writing samples to at least twenty more firms by August 15th at the latest or before their deadline for next summer's associates if before the 15th.
6. Clean my home office, the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
7. Stop drinking soda. Again.
8. Balance our budget for the next six months.
Step softly; a dream lies buried here.

3. Find another job. One that pays well, preferably.
I had an interview last week and felt rather confident coming out of it. The attorney doing my interview had previously worked at the non-profit I'm currently at and was rather impressed with what I've been doing there, lately. So, cross your fingers that I can check this one off, everybody.
4. Edit at least four writing samples to submit to firms in August (one employment law sample, one trademark law sample, one SSI sample, and one corporate law sample).
I really need to work on this.
5. Send résumés and writing samples to at least twenty more firms by August 15th at the latest or before their deadline for next summer's associates if before the 15th.
Of the twenty firms I wanted to contact, I've already got my résumé out to the ten or so that don't require a writing sample up-front. After I buckle down and finish editing them, I'll be good to go.
6. Clean my home office, the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
Everything except my office is c-l-e-a-n.
8. Balance our budget for the next six months.
I'm putting this off until I find out whether or not I get the job I mentioned above. If so, I can actually pay off my student loans from undergrad this year and not pay a dime of interest, which would be stellar.
Step softly; a dream lies buried here.

General Goals

Be a doctor.
Be respected at my place of work.
Have a nice wedding and solid marriage.
Change eating and exercise habits so that I feel good about them.

To Do Today

15 minutes of dissertation reflection time (my dad made me promise to do this for two weeks. Why not? My current approach is not working.)

Finish my evals and notes for the past month

Write two outpatient testing reports

Fill out application for campus event

Do something nice for fiance

Go to the gym

Drink water

Throw away what's left of the white chocolate covered strawberries in my desk and don't buy anything like that to bring to work ever again.

Write down what I eat today
There's another home somewhere,
There's another glimpse of sky...
There's another way to lean
into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

Sew button onto coat
Do something fun with fiance
There's another home somewhere,

into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

This summer:

1. Grade the remaining (30ish) applicant writing samples for next year's staff.
2. Edit articles for December and March issues.
3. Incorporate edits of my article and submit for second review.
4. Prepare all articles, book reviews, etc. for submission to publisher.
5. Finish current draft of article and shop around.
6. Write op-ed re: topic of draft article.
7. Select conference for presentation of research/article.
8. Read 7 books by July 3rd to (finally) be caught up with where I should be this year.
9. Finish Buffy. (5 1/3 seasons left.)
10. Start and finish Angel.
11. Get my work caseload down to a realistically manageable level.

There's another glimpse of sky...
There's another way to lean
into the wind, unafraid.
There's another life out there...

Things to Do Before My Mother and Grandmother Arrive Tomorrow

-Dust
-Sweep
-Spot mop(?)
-Laundry
-Clean bathroom
-Clean kitchen (sink, fridge)
-Resecure curtain rod bracket that cat somehow managed to rip off the wall.
-Rehang curtains (if not too shredded from cat's previously mentioned adventures)
-Move various forlorn items that have collected on the kitchen table over the last several months down to the storage room in the basement.
-Clean herb garden area, and construct new, neater cat barrier
-Shop for cake igredients
-Bake cake
-Sleep
you snooze, you lose
well I have snozzed and lost
I'm pushing through
I'll disregard the cost
I hear the bells
so fascinating and
I'll slug it out
I'm sick of waiting
and I can
hear the bells are
ringing joyful and triumphant
