Lately I've been making a good dent in my list of "Movies I Really Should Have Seen by Now but Haven't," what with Army of Darkness, My Neighbor Totoro, Tron, and The Usual Suspects, all of which were good, in their own ways.

All I have left on my list, that I can remember, is Akira and Apocalypse Now. I know there are more. I really should write them down or something.
Shell the unshellable, crawl the uncrawlible.

Row--row.

I had such a productive morning that I wanted to actually check off a few of the albatrosses that have been hanging over me.

Nos. 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 are all done. No. 5 has been temporarily bumped in favour of a paper I really need more urgently. No. 8 I tried to do by met a hiccup I still haven't resolved (anyone know anything about setting up peer-to-peer temporary networks?). No. 3 I am going to have to call in person for, I think, so I will do that as soon as I can, given the time zones.

Considering I'm tired and it's way late, I think I'm gonna bump "go to bed" right to the top of the list.

Things To Do Today:

1. All laundry
2. Dishes
3. Sweep
4. Finish addressing Save the Dates
5. Clean bathroom
6. Reorganize under-counter kitchen cabinets
7. Clean bedroom. Strongly consider hanging up stars.
8. Find empty bottle and make baking soda hair rinse.
9. Update Wedding Spreadsheet
10. Update Budget Spreadsheet
11. Make at least two dress appointments for when my sister comes out in early November
12. Reorganize my closet. Consider making another donation pile
13. Eat actual meals instead of mindlessly grazing all day and/or forgetting to eat (both common problems when I am home alone)
14. Start brainstorming about all the Christmas shopping I need to do
15. Try going to sleep with wet hair even though I hate, hate, hate doing that, to save me the trouble of blow-drying it in the morning
16. In bed at a decent hour!

Ready, set, go!

I'll disregard the cost

Today's list of "Things Syphon has to do within 24 hours," despite the fact that none of these things were on my to-do list when I woke up this morning:

1. Generate actuarial estimates for 7 programs for next 30 years from historical trends.
2. Revise estimates using 4 different assumption models.
3. Write a brief outlining these projections.
4. Media training and radio interview.
5. Figure out why someone's calculations are wonky and how to fix them.
6. Review 55-page piece of proposed legislation.
7. Prepare for a conference panel I'm chairing this Saturday.

I don't even want to start listing my full to-do list. :(
Step softly; a dream lies buried here.

Things to do before leaving for Wyoming:
Feed cells
Water plants
Eat lunch--put any leftovers in better container
Check mail
Take out the trash
Make bed
Put up at least three book/comic pages

I used to hate gravity because it would not let me fly. Now I realize it is gravity that lets me stand.

Feed cells
For some reason, my brain has decided there are mini-Lunchables to feed to things like cells. Their favorite part isn't the CapriSun, crackers, cheese, or meat but the dessert. When they see the other science people's cells only got a PB&J sandwich, they feel a little smug.

(I've also just decided I probably need to get more sleep soon...the crazy is starting to show again.)

Be assured: my cells are the smuggest. They get great dessert.
