Not rayon or acrylic.

Some ideas: mohair, angora, alpaca, silk; if she's into "green" environmental stuff, maybe organic cotton or bamboo. Just not the typical cheap stuff.

Is making cookies considered a crafty thing to do, nowadays?

I've been crocheting since I was about 10. I learned when my aunt had leukemia and lost all her hair but didn't want to wear wigs - so I made her lots of hats. Over the years I've made blankets, scarves and hats but just recently decided to try some gloves. Here are two colors of fingerless gloves that I made.

Also, I got a succulent plant called String of Tears that needed to be hung, so I crocheted a plant hanger for it:

I really need to learn how to knit and crochet more than scarves or other square and rectangular items. Those are really cool!

I like to crochet. I like blankets. It works up well.

I love to crochet, but i've been working on the same blanket for almost two years now. I really have to be in the mood.

I'm getting pretty good at scarves, but my hats always look a little off.

Ever since I watched my aunt knit a couple of years ago I realized that I should learn but I haven't gotten around to it. I guess I am a semi-procrastinator. :(

Just in case anyone is still interested in my earpins/earslides...I just listed some new stones in my etsy shop (there are now 19 types to pick from). If any of you guys want some, don't buy them at etsy because I will sell them to pwebbers for half price. PM me here. They would make great gifts!

A slideshow that shows the postcards in their various stages of being made.

Basically, I:
-taped the cards together
-drew the image
-outlined with a Sharpie
-Painted
-re-outlined
-separated the cards
-addressed and wrote out messages
-glued sequins
-glued beads
-glued glitter
-taped over
-sent

It took longer than I thought it might and my body ached in some weird ways from all the sitting, standing, kneeling, etc. but it was fun. :)

Alea, I am so impressed I can't even find the words.

Thanks again for sharing a piece of something so lovely with little old me.

That is sooo cool.

It's awesome knowing I have piece of that. : )

Hm, I didn't keep track but people started mentioning it in the Hug Thread. It was, with the exception of one, completely random and arbitrary. Sorry.

Very nice Alea.

I have to admit that I was curious about the cards and was wondering if you were going to post pics of them. I can't imagine how long it took with all the beads and other things going on, but they look great.

My latest fingerless gloves...I love them so much. Made with a bamboo/wool blend and sooo soft. And they have little dark red button accents!

My cousins kids likes to do "play shopping seller". So... for their birthday in April, we bought them that shopping cart. The broom is for the boy, as he likes to clean, and we're breaking stereotypes or something.

Anyways, my sister had another idea: We should make them aprons to kind of go with the cleaning/shopping seller theme. She picked the fabric out, and I sewed them. It is an elastic neck strap and a velcro around-the-back attachment thingie so they can easily put it on themselves. They aren't perfect, but I think they turned out pretty darn well. My father sure liked to laugh at me given that I know how to sew though. >.>

Yep. My weekend project. :)

1. That's cool, Wil. Definitely better than I could have done...but my inability to sew and complete lack of effort into learning are to blame for that.

2. I used to have an old-school version of that shopping cart; mine was yellow basket, orange base, and squared off more. Whenever we'd get home from the commissary, I'd grab it, wheel it out to the car, "load" it up, and wheel it into the kitchen.

3. Yesterday saw me visiting two craft stores, one with fabric and one without. It was a bittersweet couple of hours; I saw so much I could have fun with and yet couldn't buy. I was still pretty excited by what I saw because I later geeked out over the fabrics with someone who really couldn't see why I was so enthused by them.

Today I went through my trunk, pulled out all the ones I had bought in the past and enjoyed them all over again. I have 13 cuts, 1-2 yards each, of various colors/patterns that will be some yet-to-be-determined awesome thing one day. I might call you, Wil, if I need them to be sewn. :P

Not sure this qualifies as a craft per se but I did make/draw it. It's not high art by any means but I don't think it came out terribly, either.:?

Holy hell, you know life is rough and you have it bad when you're paid to sit around and be crafty.

I love the butterfly!

This is a latch hooking project I started years ago. I dug it up when sorting through my room and decided, since I had nothing better to do, to finish it up.
