Thanks! What exactly is the difference between the books? I think I'm planning on reading Speaker For the Dead next. Is that the right one to reas?

The Ender/Bean saga is essentially split into 2 series.

The Ender Quartet:

-Ender's Game
-Speaker for the Dead
-Xenocide
-Children of the Mind.

The Bean (or Shadow) Quartet:

-Ender's Shadow
-Shadow of the Hegemon
-Shadow Puppets
-Shadow of the Giant

The former tells what becomes of Ender (long) after the bugger war, while the latter tells what happens to most of the other battle-school graduates, particularly Bean and Petra, as well well as Ender's brother Peter. As long as you read each series in order, it doesn't really matter if you switch back and forth between them.

Yes it is the right one.
Don't read the Bean series at all unless you have absolutely nothing else to read, Fresh Fish.
The differnce is that Speaker is more intellgent, better written, deeper, and more interesting. Shadow is just a marketing scam.

I liked Ender's Shadow, and I really like Bean. Maybe I'll try out reading the other Shadows when I'm done with the speaker books.

All of the books are definitely worth reading. Even my least favourite novel in the Ender/Bean saga ranks among my favourite books.

I strongly disagree. Xenocide was great.

It took me, like, 10 min to figure out why you were poking me, Chico, then I was like "Oh yeah! I nickname multiple-name people!"

We already have a Helen, she's Helenberrycrunch. So, Jezebel, if we're not calling you by your username (which I love, btw)... I dub thee...

...

Nellie.

Hi, I'm either brand new or incredibly old. I used to post here about 5 (????) years ago, under this same username. I came back this past summer and everything was gone so I signed up again under the same name :) Anyone still around from back then??? People I remember are Alaire, Hive King...?

A lot of us are around from pre-2003. Though, I can't recall you, and 2003-2004 were the years when I was most active in the community.

I remember you Poke. There is no Alaire. The original Hive King is also gone, but we do have a hive_king. Does that work for you?

You might see some familiar names, but most people from that time are long gone or post very little.

But welcome back. It is always nice to have an olbie come back.

I'm glad you like the name

Anyway... where'd Nellie come from? I'd rather just be called Jezebel, or Jez, or Jess even... but Nellie!?

And it nice to meet you Helen. I hope we can share our name nicely.

As nicknames go, you got off pretty easy. I'm Linus, and we've got a Chico, a Fabio, a Lacurmo, a Samson, and a good number of others I can't recall off the top of my head. It's just a tradition around here. You can go by your username if you want, but you have a "real" name now. :)

I kinda like Nellie, actually.

I never got nicknamed, despite sharing the same name as Jayelle's husband, so I can only assume she nicknamed Caspian instead out of fear of me.

I'm gonna nickname Jayelle anyway. From now on, Jayelle, you shall be known as Vagina Face.

Speaking of vagina face.... today one of my teachers showed up wearing a pink sweater whose collar, I'd SWEAR were labia. Ew.
