Jeremy, I think that OSC quote you presented gets to the heart of the matter, and what he means and why he wants to make clear that it's not his movie, or his scenes. The intention, I think, is that Gavin internalized the story, and then made it his own, along with the actors. I don't see any hints ...

I think this confirms some good things - that it's a movie faithful to the characters and vision of the book, while still being very much its own unique work of art.

After opening her door after her nap one day, we found she had been busy converting her bookshelf into a three-tiered bunk bed for her babies - complete with 1-book pillows, and 2-book blankets.
