Re: Things that I love

Wow. And I thought the roadtrips to Tucson were brutal, topping out at a whopping 3.5 hours one way. I get very antsy if I'm in a car much longer than that. I grew up making regular (2-4 times a year) 11-12 hour drives from New Orleans, LA to Augusta GA and back. Road trips were kind of a way of li...

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

Yes! His DW episode was so good! I finally started The Sandman, and also Signal to Noise, which I absolutely loved. The art was amazing. I'm taking a class on the history of the graphic novel, so that's mostly what I've been reading lately. The most recent was Ice Haven, which was really interestin...

My WiFi network has been named "The Giant's Drink" for quite a few years now. All of my devices, however, are named with 007 since I call myself Platypi007 online. Laptop007, Incite007 (my old LG Incite phone), Captivate007 (Samsung Galaxy S Captivate) and so on.

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

I was introduced to Neil Gaiman by a friend who gave me a copy of "Neverwhere", his adaptation of a TV mini-series he wrote for the BBC, and I was hooked instantly. I then read his joint venture with another favorite author of mine, Terry Prachett, "Good Omens," which I also love...

Re: Things that I hate

The fact that the interior of my car reeks of gasoline from having the gas tank unsealed and open inside the cabin for a week. At least it runs now, though. Maybe having the windows cracked all afternoon today will have helped. I also hate that I didn't have anything with which to drain off the fuel...

All right, as long as we're in disagreement, I'll just set it up to randomly open in the same tab, open in a new tab, close your browser, open a random porn site, or repartition your drive.
I'm on board with that! (Not sure I'm supposed to post here, but I just had to)

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)

Just saw "The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe" last weekend and I agree with most people that it was just "meh" as far as DW episodes go. I wasn't a huge fan of series 6 in general, the story arc just didn't seem that plausible to me and I didn't really like the finale, and m...

Historically they were the result of failing to trim the edges of the sheet which was folded and cut into pages (if you look at older books you will sometimes find pages that haven't yet been cut apart). Today they are, I presume, an attempt at looking old-timey.
Yep, and I hate them.

Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

One very confused restaurant in town celebrated Mardis Gras on a Monday in late January. That's OK! In New Orleans they start celebrating Mardi Gras season the day after Epiphany (January 6) and go until Fat Tuesday (day before Ash Wednesday). There are parades all over town during that time, and k...

My car. King cake, again! Probably the last ones this year (Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, if you don't know). I'm making two, though that is probably far too much king cake for the party I'm having tomorrow (if any of you want to come to Columbia, SC feel free to stop in) but I wanted to try out the unfilled, b...

Is anyone here getting a PlayStation Vita? It's out next week for First Edition Bundle purchasers, and the week after in stores. Well, if we go by how long after the PS3 came out I got a PS3, we can figure on me getting a Vita in 2016. However, if we go by how long it has been between console purch...

I love taking showers before bed, especially when there's enough time before bed that my hair won't soak the pillow. It's just really refreshing to go to bed all clean. I've heard of Kobo, but haven't seen one in person (I've only seen a couple of Kindles in person, actually). I chalk it up to the fact that I follow tech blogs like Engadget and Gizmodo. I think they are a lot less popular than Kindle and Nook.

I've been playing it steadily since it came out, much less now than I did in the beginning, but I can still sit down and spend hours in the world without realizing it.
