Re: Gun Control
This is a huge part of why I still firmly believe that this culture of owning guns for "protection" is a vile thing. It presumes that gun owners will be okay pointing guns at human beings, because that is their purpose. If guns are strictly tools for hunting and never, ever to be pointed a...

I, for one, love that essay.
And yeah, seriously, books of poetry are so much easier to work around than books of law.

In addition to hearing about this all over the internet, I heard about it from one of my colleagues at work who saw it in the paper at the pita place around the corner. Gotta love what can make serious international news.

The two most common errors with green tea are A) pouring boiling water on it, as opposed to boiled water that has been let to sit for 5min or so, and B) over-steeping it. Either of those things can make the tea go very bitter.

My tip for fighting a cold or its beginning:
Whiskey. Or rum. Or brandy. And if you feel up to it, you can dilute it with hot lemon, ginger, and honey.

The tablets that I have heard the most about, and basically all positive, is Wacom. I imagine you can find them at Amazon? And for my own question, if I wanted to turn a segment of an .avi file into a .gif, any particular programmes or methods that are easier than others? I broke down and googled it...

At the same time, a lot of escapist literature IS set in familiar terrain because it makes it eas...

They actually banned announcing any totals in Canada before all the polls closed because as soon as Ontario and Quebec were announced, everyone knew who would almost certainly win, ev...

Steph, it's pretty ginger-y! The recipe I used says to mix it with club soda to make ginger ale, but I didn't care for it that way. The somewhat metallic taste of club soda didn't pair well with the ginger syrup I made, at least not in my opinion, anyway. I swapped out club soda for tonic and was m...

Thumbs Sideways: Watching fighter jets in formation flying near the speed of sound right over your home is thrillingly and uncomfortably Apocalypse-y. This is how I always feel about airshows. It's much more so, now, as I'm living in a city with a military base and I believe an RAF airfield nearby....

As much as that instance irks me, I do love how rhyme can tell you about the author's language. It always reminds me of Blake's Tiger, "What immortal hand or eye / Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?". I have since seen that same rhyme structure in several other places in the 18th and 19th c....
