Re: ENDER'S GAME Movie Release Date

IMDB has had the release scheduled for 2013 forever. Its good to hear that they're shooting for an early release (March) instead of a holiday one (December). I can't wait until IMDB changes it from "pre-production" to "in production" so I can stalk its progress.

Re: Ender's Game Back in Development

I'm not going to lie, I haven't even FINISHED an OSC book since Ender in Exile and I only finished that because it was an Ender book... The point is, and the majority of us will agree, OSC's writing has really taken a dive. He's also written A LOT of books in a short amount of time -- coincidence? ...

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

Has anyone else ever read the Seven Realms novels by Cinda Williams Chima? I haven't, but I'll definitely check it out. Anything I should know going in? (Like "Book 1 is okay, but Book 2 is where it really picks up" or anything?) ETA: I'm working my way through the second Heroes of Olympu...

Yes,I know that Hatrack is my friend, but I'd rather ask you

I was on Hatrack today looking at the list of "works in progress," and I was wondering... Are the books going to come out in the order they are in on the list? Top to bottom? If so, that makes me very happy because Ruins is at the top with Gate Thief next. I'm sure someone has tried to pre...

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

Has anyone else ever read the Seven Realms novels by Cinda Williams Chima? The first one was Demon King and it didn't really get much publicity despite the author's previous successes. It wasn't until the third book in the series, The Grey Wolf Throne, that Walmart started carrying it and Borders pu...

Re: Pathfinder

Thanks! So, Shadows in Flight is a novella size continuation of the Shadow series with the final book, Shadow's Alive, still to come. Shadow's Alive is the one that brings the Shadow series full circle and has Bean's kids helping out new Peter, Jane, Miro, and Val. Will the brilliant Descoladores in...

Re: Pathfinder

I think he finished Ender if you can separate it from Bean. Shadows Alive comes after Children of the Mind and is the "bridge" book between the Speaker series and the Shadow series, with characters from both series playing major roles. This is the first I'm hearing of this. Is there more ...

Re: Pathfinder

There are supposed to be more Pastwatch books coming, too. The real question is this: has he ever actually finished a series (other than Homecoming)? I can't think of one. (ETA: I guess you can count Worthing, if you want. Sorta.) My prediction: he'll get to the last book and start something new, a...

Re: Ender's Guilt

I think all those deaths would haunt me, but I chose the soldiers. Its one thing to kill the enemy and something else to know that your friends/allies died because you messed up. I would've said Stilson if he weren't tied to Bonzo. Stilson was just a bratty, popular kid going through a bully faze (l...

Re: What's your LEAST favorite Ender/Speaker Book?

I assume we didn't put Exile on the list because that would make the choice too easy. Xenocide. It didn't need to be split off into its own book which is what happend. It was originally supposed to be Speaker and then a conclusion but OSC felt he needed more room. I don't think he did. The important...

I finally got my hands on The Magician King ; I had to email the head Collections Development person a while back and tell them we should get this book and awesomely enough, they listened. Why it wasn't already on order, however, is something I don't understand. I don't know who is in charge of adu...

Got 2 playlists loaded on the iPod: "Indie"- TATE, Cold War Kids, Arcade Fire, The National etc. AND "Diva"- Adele, Florence+the Machine, A Fine Frenzy.

Currently got the new Florence CD playing on repeat. Over and over. It is way better than the new Coldplay.

All my friends were SO excited by the trailer. I was "Meh." It really showed me NONE of the power and intensity of the book. It felt like they decided to throw some random stuff together just to get the trailer released. I'm fairly certain that if a person has not read the book, that trai...

Wow! I didin't read every reply, but am I the only one who enjoyed it? Yes, parts were rushed and the result was muddy, but I liked her choice to kill Snow and go home with Peeta. It was always Peeta. For once (and possibly the only time in recent YA) the persistent love of the nice guy beat out the...

I haven't seen the HG thread yet but I'll look for it. So exited about the movie!!!

I like. Tor has this pic available as a wallpaper but it leaves off the words, "Ender's Game." I wanted to use it but was afraid having a little boy (that does look like a little girl) on my computer would make people at Starbucks call the cops. Too pediphilic.

Re: Just finished Ender in Exile. Other suggestions?

I highly recommend Pathfinder as well as The Lost Gate (both by OSC). They are each the first in a series (more fantasy than scifi) so you'll have to wait for the sequels. For a tast of another author, I recommend the WWW series by Robert J. Sawyer. He too has won the Nebula and Hugo and this series...

Re: Movies for the rest of the series

I think I side with a couple of the posts on Deadline. The only way Summit is going to continue this is as a kids/teen series and that means Bean. I don't know how to do it, but following the Shadow series seems like the only way to go if you want to keep it about the kids. Shadow of the Hegemon is ...

Re: Ender's Game Back in Development

Shortcuts are always taken in Hollywood so the fact that the screenplay calls for Ender and Bean to be in the same Launch group doesn't surprise or discourage me. I find the casting challenges to be more daunting than the screenplay challenges. OSC has turned down enough screenplays in the past (inc...
