Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother

David and I have been increasingly text-y as the years go by in our relationship, and on average, we send between 5 to 10 texts to each other throughout the work day. Sometimes it's practical stuff like, "Please pick up X on your way home" or "Are you going out for drinks after class?...

Re: Wedding Planning!

I've been thinking about other traditions David and I have as well. One of my favorites is Stay-In-Bed-All-Day Day, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. We do it twice a year. We don't set an alarm, just wake up naturally. We do get out of bed to shower and put on clean pjs, then get ri...

Hmmm. You guys make me think we need to give Undeclared another shot. We adored Freaks and Geeks, but we barely made it through the pilot of Undeclared. We didn't bother to continue with it.

Re: Wedding Planning!

David and I have lots of traditions, almost all of which were begun before we got married (because, well, this is our first holiday season as a married couple). We definitely do a mix of carry-over from our families of origin and setting new traditions for ourselves. I imagine the new traditions wil...

Re: Girly Stuff

Ok, Pweb Mamas. A question. (I was going to post this under Confessions, but figured everyone would assume it's Kim asking, and that's not fair to her, so I'll come clean). Did any of you have really super early pregnancy symptoms (like, before a test confirmed the results early) and if so, what wer...

Re: Things that I hate

I just read that post. I'm with you in your disgust. Ugh. Ditto. I think it's even worse that the reason it was only "almost cheating" was that the guy lost interest in her. That's one of the parts that I reacted to most strongly. That and how she dismisses her culpability at the end by c...

Re: Things that I hate

I strongly dislike the new editor hired at APW, and have since reading her post about how she almost intentionally cheated on her husband. The post got a lot of praise for being brave and insightful and all that, but it disgusted me in a visceral way. I'm disappointed that she'll now be a constant v...

Damnit!

David has this thing where he believes everyone is the same height he is, regardless of any blindingly obvious evidence to the contrary.

I have this thing where I believe everyone is the same age as I am.

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

David and I finished the Trickster Duology and he LOVED it. All the years of teasing me for devouring Tamora Pierce books are flung back in his face! I'm a bit wary, now, since the Trickster books are my favorite. He's anxious to read more of her, but I fear it'll be a slight decline. I think we mig...

Oh steph, my heart goes out to you and Tyler! I have two very special stuffed animals I've had since infancy--Wilson, the bear, and Charmy, the dog. To this day they still sit in a place of honor up by my pillow every morning when I make the bed. I lost each of them once--separately--when I was a ch...

Re: Currently Playing (CD/MP3)

One of the best wedding gifts we got (and we got a lot of amazing, homemade, funny and gorgeous gifts) was a four-hour long mixed cd labeled "Honeymoon Road Trip" to listen to on our long (longer than four hours) drive up to Grand Marais. The entire cd is AMAZING. But one of the best songs...

I am back in the kitchen after taking basically the entire summer off.

Marinara sauce on the stove right now. Apple butter in the slow cooker.

Made pumpkin waffles this morning for breakfast. Tonights dinner is a baked penne with roasted vegetables.

I love the fall. I love to cook.

I am very into lists lately. And something I've been toying with is the concept of a Life List. Bucket List. Epic Things To Do List. Kick Ass Stuff You Want To Do Before Your Time Is Up List. I've tried to make lists like this before without success, but I'm giving it another shot. I'm not forcing m...

I've been home sick with a terrible stomach flu and binge-watched most of the first season of Revenge yesterday. It's like Veronica Mars meets Gossip Girl meets Kill Bill. It has its flaws, but I don't care, and am currently obsessed. My favorite part is how much the main character sucks. She's SO A...

Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

Steph, it's pretty ginger-y! The recipe I used says to mix it with club soda to make ginger ale, but I didn't care for it that way. The somewhat metallic taste of club soda didn't pair well with the ginger syrup I made, at least not in my opinion, anyway. I swapped out club soda for tonic and was mu...

COMPLICATED FEELINGS ARE COMPLICATED. And I don't know how to stop them, or change course. I have to do something, before I totally and completely rewrite my memories of something wonderful, but how? HOW?

So jealous! The closest she's coming to my neck of the woods is Chicago, and I just can't make it out there. I want to tell her about the time I saw her at the farmers market and was too awkward to say hello!
