Re: Dear Diary/Journal/Bob 3.0

Thanks so much. I am really, really touched. I told Donny and he is, too. That's really lovely. It made us think that someday we'd like to sponsor an animal at our local shelter for Tara and Reece. (You can pay a cat's adoption fees, in whole or in part, to help someone adopt.) Again, thanks. I'm ve...

Re: Dear Diary/Journal/Bob 3.0

Thanks, Alea. It was peaceful. The vet and his assistant were both incredibly kind. They explained everything to me, and then after they'd put in the catheter, they let me hold him as long as I wanted. He was calm and quiet when the time came. Unfortunately, the catheter hadn't gone in correctly, so...

Re: Dear Diary/Journal/Bob 3.0

Thanks, Fred. We tried an appetite stimulant yesterday, but he still won't eat. He's obviously very, very sick. We're taking him in later this morning to be put to sleep. I am a wreck, pretty much. Last night I was crying at the computer desk. Atty brought Naa, his stuffed cat over, and had her give...

Re: Dear Diary/Journal/Bob 3.0

Dear Bob, Reece is really, really sick. Super sick. Pancreatitis. Won't eat, won't drink, not acting at all like himself. We can't afford to put him in the hospital -- literally can't afford it, I mean, even if we gave up all the grocery money and everything else in our account (the vet trip alone w...

I dreamed that spammers came in and assaulted pweb in a hostile takeover leaving the mods helpless to respond and pweb a ghost town.

One of several disturbing dreams.

So excited for you guys! Completely random: There is a small section of hair, front left, high up but not quite bang-height, that thinks it is supposed to be curly. Like, really curly. It's growing out -- don't know why it was so short to start with -- and it is growing in a (loose-ish) spiral. I do...

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother

Confession: I've started just going straight to explainxkcd.com instead of bothering with xkcd.com. This started because I wasn't able to read the scrollover text on my phone, so it was helpful to see it printed, but I then realized that, honestly, half the time it just saves me a step in terms of f...

I walked/ran (mostly walked) a 10k (6.2 miles) today as part of the Fargo Marathon. I have never walked more than four miles before. The crowd cheering on the way in and crossing the finish line was the most amazing thing ever.

I am so sore and so tired.

Dear Yous, Okay, SERIOUSLY. I already reproduced one time for you, world. Why is it that now that my son is two, suddenly everyone feels free again to start asking me annoyingly personal questions about family planning? NOT COOL. Hahaha! No, Buckshot, I'm sorry, I wasn't even thinking of you! I'd just had three people within an hour say "gal" or "gals" and it got me to thinking and that's where the poll came from!

Hey Gals! (And Guys!)

Do people use the word "gal" or "gals" where you live? Unironically? I'd forgotten about that word's existence before I moved back up to North Dakota. It's much more common than anywhere else I've lived. I'm curious, are there other regions where it's in reasonably common use?

Dear You, I am terribly sorry we were all cursed with the third most common surname in the US of A. And I have to say, part of me would like to share experiences of our common first name. How do you pronounce it? How do react to its mispronunciation? Were you commonly called "Kristen?" I h...

Apparently, the assault of General Error on pweb has affected my unconscious. My two-year old has turned into SUCH a two-year old all of a sudden. Nearly every time he does not get his way, he howls while throwing his arms up and sinking dramatically to the floor, where he cries his heart out over how difficult and unfair his life is. I hope this phase ends soon. The hilarity...

Cold. Very cold. Still very cold. The car heater has given up entirely.

Even dogeweather.com 's validation is not cheering me up.

Winter. Must. Die. I'm thinking of starting some kind of hero quest to kill it, somehow. Any volunteers if I do?
