That doesn't surprise me. Everyone wants to make money. A few months ago, when the NZ/US rate was getting closer to 80c, all the newspapers whined about how much money NZ exporters were losing. Then it went back around the 70c mark - and all they can talk about is how much the price of petrol will g...

Just because the cover prices of the books show a difference, that shouldn't mean the bookstores have to SELL them at that difference. here in NZ, the prices of books are all determined by price stickers, not by whatever's printed on the cover. Of course, that's largely because the cover only has US...

I've been slowly rereading and reading the L'Engle books I can get my hands on. Sadly, I can't yet get access to far too many of them - I own about 8, but that's only a tenth of what she's written - I need to start haunting some used bookstores, otherwise I'll break the bank (plus the chain stores p...

To my mind, if someone gets a 60% grade, they have done (correctly/appropriately) 60% of the work. Of course, in my world, a 60% is a pass (in NZ, anything over 50% is a pass. Some courses have a 45% mark for a pass, others have 48-50% as a restricted pass... but on the whole, 50% is a pass). Which ...

I will probably write a NaNo this year ... if only because it would seem really really weird to not be NaNoing during November. I've participated and won the last five years - some of which have gone better than others.

That said, perhaps I should start thinking of a premise or a plot or something.

I saw the trailer today, at the movies. I saw the beginning of it and thought "Oh! The Dark is Rising!" and my aunt turned to me, and I explained, and she didn't know what I was talking about. And the trailer continued And I kept wondering ... why don't they show us the sign? The christmas...

I got the book before the statesiders did ... and I even finished it before most statesiders got it... but the limits of the spoilers I was dishing out was the first word. ;) I HATE being spoiled. Doing bits and pieces of several jobs is hard work. It's even harder work when all the busy things land on one day - or when all of them are busy all of the time. Nonsense.

Whenever you think you're a pile of **** and don't deserve anything or to be anywhere, it sucks.

But sooner or later the only person who remembers whatever it was, is you. Go get a coffee or a hot chocolate or a warm chocolate chip biscuit ... and try working on something else.

You have such a beautiful office... Your view far and away beats mine, too!

(I work in a corner of a square - I at least have a full wall on one side of my desk, which I have lots of photos on. Some folk only have cubicle partitions. My view is a grey courtyard with a grey back wall.)

I think you should report it... especially so given that those who did the prank are in positions of some responsibility (and getting paid for it). If they weren't people you knew, or weren't people you were friends with, I think you'd be finding the decision less difficult (not sure, but probably)....
