Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

Yes, I did use olive oil. I use olive oil for most things, appropriately or not. Except when I use toasted sesame oil (which definitely wouldn't work for frying latkes. :P )

Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

I sort of make latkes on the fly, so no particular recipe. I grate a lot of potatoes, a little bit of onion, and add some eggs, a little matzah meal, and some salt. But I couldn't say off the top of my head what the proportions are. This recipe looks similar to mine: http://www.kosherblog.net/2006/1...

Wow, yeah, a blast from the past. I remember him being more at Hatrack than Pweb, but he did make some cool logos for some of the different armies mentioned in Ender's game. I still have a t-shirt with one of them that I bought at Endercon. He went by Naledge at Hatrack.

Not that I'm ever going to eat pulled pork. ;)
Pulled pork is on my short list of favorite foods ever, not far behind bacon. You are missing out.
So be it. It's against my religion to eat pork.

Re: Complete Randomness

They smoke a pork shoulder or other hunk of meat and then it's cut up or pulled apart. When prepared on a smaller scale the hand pulled pork is more common. Larger scale servings usually cut it up with knives.
Gotcha. Not that I'm ever going to eat pulled pork. ;)

Re: Books, eBooks, Kindles, Audiobooks, and that kinda stuff

In the past month we picked up an iPad, which I still have yet to use for any real reading. I've done twitter, google Reader, Pweb, and the like on the iPad, but not a book. I'm not sure why. I do however, have a Kindle Touch on order that I'll be unwrapping come Christmas Day (it's my gift from my...

Nope. It's not weird at all. Some call it Natural Family Planning, and it's definitely not the rhythm method. I know a lot of women who have used it both to get pregnant and avoid getting pregnant. I've seen the latter (child spacing) used more in conjunction with breastfeeding, as completely breast...

Re: Currently Reading / Just Read (Books/stories/whatever)

I'm rereading all of Animorphs . ...it's pretty much exactly how I remember, and it's the best nostalgia-bomb ever. That elicited an "Oh, good grief!" from me. I remember when my kids were so into Animorphs that I had to hide the books. *laugh* Not that I didn't read a few of them myself....

The eating 30 grams of protein makes sense to me. Protein holds your appetite in check longer than other types of foods, so you're not as tempted to overeat. Fruit is high in sugar, so that makes sense too. The bits about brief muscle contractions before and after meals and cold exposure sound gimmi...

So, did you get his book or are you basically following what's on the website you linked? I think I would have a hard time ditching as many carbs as he says. I eat mostly vegetarian and very little meat, so I'd be basically eating beans and veggies on that diet. Also, no milk??? Not even skim milk? ...

Disagree. Very much disagree.
Dried banana chips are ok by me. As is banana bread and fried bananas.

Other banana flavored stuff (eg candy, gum and the like) - yucky.

I am having a persistent problem of going to sleep too late and waking up too early, even when I could have slept late. Too much on my mind, once I'm up, I'm up.

Five hours of sleep a night just doesn't cut it for me.
