There is a difference between accepting a belief as valid--or even as reasonable--and believing it yourself. Acceptance is not agreement.

And Scott, don't worry--you'll learn the truth about eriador soon enough.

I actually wasn't horribly offended by it, and Wrinkle, while not my favorite in the quartet (quintet, whichever), is definitely up there.

And this from a community all about the series that brought us the idea of a Speaker for the Dead... So you think you Ender, now? You're not anything comparable. You're just a kid trying to set himself as much cooler than he is. Shut up, stop bothering us, we're trying to reminisce. Without your st...

Jota, I would disagree. I think that life absolutely has meaning. I don't believe that there is some higher meaning, but there's a difference between saying that there is no higher, god-given meaning and that there is no meaning at all.

Depends on the book. Provided it's not older and/or denser English (like Locke or Tillich), generally two or three paperback book pages a minute.

Harry Potter 7 took me about five and a half hours.

Before and after that, though, I really enjoy it! Um. Dart ac...

Japanese has that, too, I believe, as do all languages that use the Chinese characters (but the general (flexible) rules of stroke order are the same/similar, are they not?). But at least you have the option of spelling something out phonetically if the Chinese symbol for it is esoteric or overly c...

Oh, but it doesn't involve conjugations at all. It's wonderful. As far as the character itself goes, though, as it's from Serenity, and they speak Mandarin in Firefly, it's safe to assume the Chinese meaning. Edit: Of course, if you think that it's hard based on that post, what do you think about th...

It is Chinese, and it's the symbol for "Serenity". I actually pulled it from a Firefly-related package. It's a kit ot make a Jayne hat . Anyway, I chose this because it's something geeky, but it's also meaningful without the geeky connotations. As far as I know it's correct. After all, it...
