Why not? You eat bread Jesus every week.
Only once a month. And it only represents his body. Otherwise, it'd be canabilism.

Re: Just curious...

As an outsider, I still cannot understand: why do you (christians) paint eggs and wait for easter bunny and stuff, if the holiday is based around the fact that Jesus was resurrected (correct me if I'm wrong)? What's the connection between the two things? I'm not sure why we do it. I've wondered the...

If you use the backyard idea, all you also need is a few billion pounds (yes, I'm British) to build a giant space station and shuttle, etc. So maybe the option should be re-titled 'my backyard & up' Actually i think that some duct tape and cardboard should do us justice... Oooh, YEAH! We can us...

Me, too! Dare I ask you which one you favour? *prefers the "Christ the Lord" version*
I think I've heard it, but my church sings the other version the most.
They played it to the back of video clippings from the Passion movie on Good Friday, and it brought tears to my eyes.

. The version that goes "In Christ Alone My hope is found, He is my rock, my strength my song..." Good song.
I love that song. It's one of the few church songs that I go around humming the rest of the week. We don't sing it enough.

Catcher had a plot? What plot?

I think I didn't like it because I've grown up in a conservative Christian home, and had never read anything like that.

But suckish prose detracts from the plot, too. I haven't read Gatsby (although now I feel like I have to), but there have been books where I've enjoyed the prose, but hated the plot. Like The Catcher in the Rye. The prose sounded like an annoyed kid, and it helped bring realism to the book. I mean, ...

And if you have a bad plot and bad prose, it's even worser.

I think that a book can have a good plot, but be ruined by bad prose. But "bad" is sometimes in the eye of the beholder.

It might have been good if there was no such thing as Redwall. Swordbird was pretty much Redwall....with birds, and less polished. Swordbird is what you would get if you took Redwall, replaced all the chacters with birds, shortened it to the size of a Warriors book, and hacked the prose. It was like...

The thing that bugs me the most about this is that is is compared to Watership and Redwall, when it isn't even that close to Redwall, let alone Watership. Someone reviewer also compared it to Tolkien. They're treating it like Animal Farm. But whatever. People are stupid. I don't really see any alleg...

But the people you mentioned are the ones on the back of the book.....

Edit:

Publishers weekly looked favorably upon it. Or at least, that's how I read it. The school library journal was more negative....

But the fact is that it wasn't good.

An author at 12.....

Flipping through a magazine for young girls one day, I found an advertisement for a book, called "Swordbird", written by a 12-year-old girl. I was thrilled to see that a child had the dedication to finish and publish a book. Being a young...ish writer myself, it sort of raised my hopes tha...

Nope. Children of the Mind and the entire Shadow series did though.

What was sad about EG?
No idea. It's one of those random weird things. I laughed at the end of Titanic, but Ender's Game made me cry......

It does'nt make much sense.
