Could you please explain to me where exactly you seem to think everyone's ethical code (which they consult to make a decision) came from? Once again, people aren't just born knowing sharing with others and being friendly is good, those are learned traits. You're missing the point here. I don't thin...

Starfox: Where did those people get their moral code from? Was that somehow part of them when they were born?
I never said this. Maybe they ask themselves what they think is truly right, instead of blindly following what the church tells them?

If everyone knew/believed that there was nothing after life, then who truthfully would be "moral"... What does it say about your "morals" if the only thing making you follow them is the threat of eternal punishment? There are plenty of people who do good solely because of their ...

Guess they didn't see anywhere in any Constitution or Bill of Rights of any country that gave people the right to not have to see anything unpleasant.
Irrelevant. Myspace is a private web site. They have the right to say what you can and cannot do with it.

That was not a misconception, What I stated is a basic form of the article you sourced. It would be impossible to actually find out exactly how big the known universe is, let alone travel there, but there IS an "edge", for lack of a better word. There has to be a point where the universe ...

Your hair is already dead when you cut it. Limiting it to your genetic material only moves the question back one step further. What about cells that have mutations? They can occur naturally during DNA replication. Is that still "your" DNA? What about epigenetics ? What if a woman is on the...

If you follow that argument to its conclusion, saying something is "possibly" alive kind of falls apart. What about right when the egg is fertilized? How about before? An egg cell is alive. Is every girl condemning the "possibly" alive every time they have their period?

Re: Revelation a Mathematical Joke?

So are books.
True, but they're a little hard to link to.

I think it raises some really interesting questions about free will. The characters and the world are amazing as well. The writing style is awesome too, getting inside the characters' heads like that.

Re: Revelation a Mathematical Joke?

By the way, the link provided, aside from being Wikipedia and therefore not as reliable as a real encyclopaedia, mentioned nothing of any of the numbers I referenced. And I never said anything about the numbers being a code, I just found it interesting that all the numbers connected to each other i...

I just said that 'many believe this'. I wasn't saying that it was true. This leads me to believe otherwise: Whether or not you believe the exact definitions of those numbers that I gave, obviously, God feels pretty strongly about them. I do not assume you follow the masses. I was pointing out a fla...

I finished the excellent Eyre Affair (it so reminded me of Read or Die the TV series) and now I need something new, though I'm tempted to reread the Darkness That Comes Before.
I just finished TDTCB and it was amazing. I'm starting on The Warrior Prophet now.

The known universe is expanding, that is a fact. So in theory, there IS a "nothing" point, I.E. if you were to travel past the edge of the universe, it has not expanded to that distance, so what is there? It is inconceivable to think about something like that. This is a somewhat common mi...

I'm not good at math by a long shot but did you know that the numbers seven and ten are considered by some to have significance? Did you know that the numbers seven and ten are considered by some to have no special significance? Just because a lot of people believe it doesn't make it true . Whether...

Re: Revelation a Mathematical Joke?

Was John of Patmos trying to play a math joke on us? or do these numbers have divine significance?
No. It's a coincidence. This type of nonsense has been thoroughly discredited. 144 is a square. Multiply it by 1000 and of course you get a lot of weird factors and such.
