To me, it seems like it's all about looking for ways to protect people (especially the mother) from the consequences of their own mistake.

I know this is going to sound horrible but sometimes I think people try too hard to protect the feelings of these accidental mothers. They act like the man is the one who made a mistake and the woman is the one who's stuck paying for it. Guess what, she's just as responsible (with rape of course bei...

You're right about that. Ignorance is bliss, after all. But from a moral standpoint I think that the father should be informed about the life he created. If he feels bad about it, well... that's too bad. The mother isn't afforded the luxury of ignorance, the father shouldn't be let off the hook eith...

An abusive man has the right to know? A man you saw once for a one-night stand has the right to know? Be reasonable. The only time the guy doesn't have the right to at least have a say in what happens is if he raped the woman. In any other case, once you decided to sleep with him, whether you inten...

I don't trust it. You never know the long term effects of these things for certain until they've been on the market for at least 10 years, and it's messing with the workings of a very important area. In my mind, I'm seeing headlines from 10 years in the future about the unexplained rise in sterility...

Like others have said, it's all about context. Words only have as much power as we give them, and when we treat a word like "nigger" as being inherently evil and destructive, we are giving it way too much power. When we become afraid to use it in any context whatsoever, we are giving it wa...

I didn't think that his fights with Stilson and Bonzo were the issue here. Aren't we just talking about what he did to the Bugger? As far as that goes, he truly didn't know that he was killing them the way that he knew and intended to harm the boys he killed. You can't use the fact that someone comm...

It's entirely possible that Superman and Batman could fight each other while both remaining good if they both believed what they were doing was right and what the other was doing was wrong. Again, read "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller. It shows a future where Batman returns from ...

What the hell is the point of mandatory voting? Having people vote for the sake of voting doesn't help ensure that the will of the people comes to pass. Choosing not to vote is a better expression of one's will than voting for a candidate because you had to vote for someone.

I gotta say that Batman would probably take him down. First of all, I recall reading that it was revealed in some comic that due to his paranoid nature, Batman had extensive files on every member of the Justice League, including their weakness (well, everyone knows Superman's) and plans for how to t...
