Outer Darkness is a MORMON thing. Wrong. Prove it. You haven't, yet you talk with the authoritarian flare of an expert. I know this one. I live in Utah and quite often am told the very clear differences. And the proof is at www.biblegateway.com. The words Outer Darkness are not used together in the...

As the topic of contradiction, EL seems to have summed that up fairly well, so your claim is still rendered false. I might recommend, if you have any allusions to competency, that you read whole arguments in their original context before submitting your input. I might recommend, if you have any pre...

Is luminous the first OSC fan on this board who actually agrees with OSC's politics? I can't think of any others... my oh my this is going to make a few interesting threads, I can tell already. Heh...well..sorry about that..I looked at the post above it. Still, though. It takes me about 2 weeks to finish a book :( Depends on the book. Most of OSCs serious ones take me a couple of days, now, some more, depending on length and how much time I have to give it. When I was in high school, the ...

How old am I? Let's see... Approximately 12057120 minutes, if my math is correct. I did remember to take leap years into account. I'm actually a little disappointed that no one has asked what that comes to in years. Either you all have calculators handy or you just don't care... I'm inclined to thi...

I don't really agree that God owns us. He gave us the gift of life, self-conscious life. It's a gift, and hence it's ours now. He has no right to have it back. If God told me that, proving the OT right and me wrong, then He can commit the genocide Himself pretty well, and doesn't have any right to ...

Anyone who wants to do chat in a friendly place is welcome at dalnet's #Anglican, where I'm channel owner: you can get a taste of it with Java, which is not really very satisfactory (there's special software that you can download which is a lot more versatile, if you like it), from dalnet's home pa...

And A.B., the internet is for porn AND sci-fi forums. It's about 80% for the former, 19% for the latter, and 1% for everything else. In other words, 99% of the internet is for people who aren't getting enough sex! I think your estimates are a little off. There's a lot of porn, okay, but I sta...

Well, there's that, but I think his official website www.hatrack.com has a bunch of members. They're too good for us. Well, I'm registered there too, but it appears that the only way to post there is to move into the Alvin Maker universe. I enjoy Alvin Maker, but I'd rather converse in my own voice...

Re: A question for Christians
If God asked you to kill every person in a town, (effectively committing genocide) would you do it? As to whether or not God would ever actually ask that of his followers, I refer you to the Book of Joshua, notably the Siege of Jehrico and the Conquest of Caanan. I am not asking whether or not the ...

Re: Biblical question, real quick
I was reading Revalations when I noticed 1:3, where it says "the time [of the prophecy] is near". Considering that its 2,000 years later and Most biblical scholars agree that the events of the book haven't come to pass yet, what does he mean here? Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sigh...

Or it could be that Christians believed the second coming would be some time during the first century...
They did. They believed that "this generation shall not pass away...". But obviously they got it wrong. Even Jesus' disciples got wrong a lot of things that He said.

Lost Boys
I just finished "Lost Boys" on Christmas Day, by pure coincidence. I had no idea that the last big scene would be on Christmas Eve, and the book's been kicking around the house for a while--the cover and blurbs gave me the idea that it would be imiatation Stephen King, and I detest SK: I w...

Who is a Christian?
Perhaps I jumped the gun saying that Trinitarians and non-Trinitarians alike attribute that verse to Jesus Christ. Jehovah's Witnesses sure do and since I had never heard that verse before becoming a Jehovah's Witness I just assumed it was a given. But it goes along with "He is the image of th...

Re: Christians are delusional!
A tenet of Christianity is that the son of God, Jesus Christ, died, and subsequently came back to life. I think that all reasonable people would say that a person can not die and then be brought back to life. It's just not possible. And it's well known that the church has always said that Jesus was...

I'm not sure how reliable it is, but the article claims that swear words in a person's native language are actually processed in a much deeper, more primitive part of the brain than regular language. I'll testify to that! My bunch of girls in college were group-friends (and sometimes paired) with a...
