I guess it all depends on what you want to do in your life. I want to become a librarian because I like books. I could just go work in a library and not get a diploma, but I am not entirely sure that pays all that much, so I'm going to go and get a Masters in library sciences. Unfortunately, pre-pro...

Nah, man, you have to give it to the University directly. Hawkblaze...do you know WHY the government helps us poor kids out? There's already a low rate of college graduates, can you imagine how much lower it would be without financial aid? I, for one, would never go to college without financial aid....

Actually, I think I remember reading that Pullman set out to write the opposite of Narnia. Even if he didn't, Pullman criticizes Lewis heavily. Anyway, I didn't mean anything about the atheist comment. All that statment meant was that despite Narnia being heavy with Christian undertones and so forth...

The Subtle Knife was just a bridge between the first and the last book. And yeah, I agree...the whole thing would've been better had he not tried to go against C.S. Lewis. Even if you're atheist, you can still appreciate C.S. Lewis as a writer. He wasn't trying to go against anyone or their work, he...

His Dark Materials Trilogy
I remember on the other forum that the book club read The Golden Compass/The Northern Lights and through that, this website came up: http://www.hisdarkmaterials.org/ I read the book sometime after the discussion was over, but I was curious if any of the participants: A) went on to read any of the ot...

A question about Moses and God...(Not for the non-believers)
We got into a disccusion earlier (breaking away from the topic) in my bible study class about this passage and I want your opinion on it: (From the NIV bible): Exodus 32:7-14 7 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. 8 T...

See, I'm a big advocate of high taxes in return for good services, but I don't think that we get half-enough for what we pay. I'm not saying taxes should be cut, but I do think they need to be poured into things that are more important. Education in New York is absolute s***. Are we lucky to have f...

1) Taking a DNA sample is not a search when processing someone. During evidence taking, yes. The difference? DNA can be used against one (especially in a rape case) and the latter is the equivalent to taking fingerprints and a mugshot. You do not need warrants for them because you have the warrant t...

Here's the deal...the population of England is 50,690,000 and the population of USA is 301,112,000. I doubt either government has the time to track EVERY single member of either country that have no criminal record. Even if civilians have them, there's no reason to track 301,112,000 people, nor enou...

I really don't see anything wrong with that. I mean, if you have a repeat sexual predator, isn't it best that the government has his DNA on file and compare it with the semen sample taken from the victim? (Okay, so there are some things that could go wrong, but still...it's a fairly decent thing to ...
