I don't know about "widely regarded"...I think SftD is terrific but in a completely different way than EG. Well, nearly everyone I've spoken to who has read both has preferred Speaker (though they unanimously agree that EG made a bigger impact on them.) Granted, that's only maybe 5 people...

Advent Rising...

Has anyone played Advent Rising? That's the game Majesco did with OSC.

It was supposed to be a trilogy, but the first game bombed hard at retail, almost taking Majesco with it. I heard it wasn't actually all that bad, though, and I was wondering if it was worth eBaying...

Re: Reaction to Ender's Game

I'm wondering if the rest of the series revolves around video games.
It doesn't. But don't let that stop you from reading them. The sequel, Speaker for the Dead is widely regarded to be better than Ender's Game.

You want to know what I hate? Nextel phones. Specifically, the walkie-talkie feature. Especially when I'm on the bus, and some ignant ni**a in the back is chirping his boy, and the "chirps" are so loud they could be heard in freakin' Los Angeles.

Drives me absolutely up the wall.

OK, so last summer, my nephew left for Nigeria and I picked up his copy of EG. Around the same time, I downloaded Karma by Delerium, a "band" whose remixes I heard all the time (being a trance listener) but I had never heard the originals. I was hooked on both. Over the next month I burned...

Isn't there only one Foundation series? As in, the original trilogy and then prequels and sequels?
There's the original trilogy written by Asimov, and then there's another trilogy written by other dudes, which fits chronologically between Second Foundation and the two sequels that Asimov wrote.

Superhero fights in the streets - they just wreak havoc on parking.
Having said that, one thing I just found out (since I just started driving in NYC...) After 7pm and on weekends, NYC is a parking paradise. So if you want to drive here, just do it after 7pm.

zeroguy I guess you're right; nothing really indicates that Bean can't handle large armies. So I guess, once again the core Ender vs. Bean question comes down to raw intelligence and survival skills vs. empathy and fierce devotion.

Dagnabbit, and here I thought I had the definitive answer. ;)
