That doesn’t make it legitimate, nor in any way compatible with the “tolerance” they uphold so loudly and/or proudly. I can understand the concept of “fighting the sin” but when in order to eradicate the sin it gets to the eradication of sinners, that’s where “love thy neighbour” and...

[...] So, I started to read the Book of Mormon, and I started praying to find out if it was true. [...] I wonder, hadn’t your parents been faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, would the Book of Mormon bear today the same relevance to you? Don’t get me wrong, I’...

The Christians who are the most convicted in their beliefs act according to God's will because they are in love with God and want to make him happy . Not out of fear of going to hell. Stockholm syndrome. Doing something out of love for someone who threatens torment is no different than doing it out...

Re: The Soul

What exactly IS a soul, beyond "the part of you that lives on after death." What is the purpose and point of a soul, and how would a person truly without a soul in their body be different than one with a soul? Reflecting back, religion seems to be startlingly ambiguous on these questions....

Let me ask you a question: What do you think "Christ" stands for in "Jesus Christ"?

I've heard the argument before, that it doesn't really matter if a deity exists or not as long as people believe in it. I don't see how anyone could seriously believe it. When we die, if the deity is real, we will go live with it/her/him. If it is not real, it will not, we will die...the end. So, I...

I hope you haven't passed the point where "real" and "fictional" are becoming one. ;)

[BTW: Fictional characters wouldn’t worry about the “real world” as long as their author doesn’t say so. :P]

It could just be sleep deprivation, but I have no idea what you are saying. The analogy makes no sense to me, so I can't really answer. Ok, let me ask you a simpler question: If your favourite deity wouldn't actually exist (and given all Human history as it is), would it make any difference for you...

"Because my favourite deity said so …"

A while ago, in a religious debate with some friends someone said that the actual existence of a deity is irrelevant, as long as people believe in it (i.e. they are firmly convinced of it) and follow “its rules”. Therefore, any argument brought up by an atheist (or generally a sceptic) about the...

Destroying the Earth in the sense that we will make it unlivable for us. Which I happen to find very important. Well, that would be a natural concern for any self-aware being in this Universe. Human or not. ;) Your “solution” does lack a moral backbone, though. So you see bottles of Coke form n...

Im suggesting population control is the only way to stop us from destroying the Earth. We're not destroying the Earth... Jehovah's Witnesses hold that there may be life on other planets but it is not for sure. The Bible doesn't say and so and, while open for speculation, there is no other hard evidence.
