Confession: I think stepping looks like so much fun, but it's mainly thought of as a "black thing" at least around here, and as a nerdy white girl, I'm afraid of being judged for my interest, by both races. (I'm too busy/lazy to do it anyway, but I still think it's awesome.)

My mother was talking about being sick and remedies and telling me she was going through her health journal to see which ones had worked for her, and the only thing that did any good was elderberry tea. And what is the first thing that pops into my head? Good lord. My mother smelt of elderberries! ...

Linguistics

Okay, it's a social science, but we use the scientific method of data analysis, so science it is. I know there are other linguists on this board, so I thought we might convene here and share our particular interests in the field. And answer people's questions about "what the heck is that?!"...

Living on the 9th floor can provide some good opportunities for elevator stupidity. I got on the elevator at the first floor and pressed 9 (the buttons glow orange when you push them), and a woman with a suitcase came in and requested I press 8, so I did. Then she said, "Do you live on the 8th ...

The cover is falling off, but I put so much faith and love into that baby, I can never truly replace it. I had to buy a newer, hardcover version for a c...
