I also think that personal preference is very different than thinking something is better written than something else. A personal example: Xenocide is my favorite book of the series. However, I know EG and SftD are better written. With the more experience thing, I think that is hogwash. The two seri...

This is an interesting question... Now I will always try to help people with small things. If someone is struggling with a lot of bags or something, I will offer to help them carry them. If someone drops a lot of papers on the floor, I'll help them pick them up. I think you should always try to help...

Well it was a successful sports weekend for me. With baseball dead to me, I turn to football and hockey. Although I really can't believe the Rockies are up 3-0 on the D-Backs. I don't understand how they can keep this pace up, something has got to give. But the Eagles won keeping there season alive....

How to annoy restaurant workers: 19. Ask me for a box and then don't take your food home. 20. Sit in my section for an hour after you are done eating. Thank you for costing me money. But I had to respond to the two above. I almost always take leftovers home and I almost always remember them, but on...

Seamusz, I really don't understand where you stand. Partly, because what Mobius has stated above. And also because what you posted in the other thread in response to EL. EL stated that to help minimize bad results from debates/discussions such as this, we need to stop asking for proof. You seemed to...

I feel like this season is incredibly slow paced so far. I feel like the story hasn't really advanced at all. Maybe it is because when I watched the first season it was rapid fire over the course of a couple of days, but it seems so slow. To the point that it feels like I haven't learned anything ne...

I don't know if it is right to demand a passenger list, but I don't think it is strange that they would want to monitor planes in their air space. I mean if someone wants to fly a plane into a building, it doesn't have to take off or land in a US airport. Terrorist could just as easily highjack a pl...

My point is, is that Atheism is a foolish and unsubstantial view 1) I never said I was an atheist. 2) Please do not insult view points different than yours, I know you are new but read the first topic in this board. where any belief in God is superior just on the basis of provability. 3) Please don...

Yeah, but I'm saying that the atheists DO have better evidence. And, given the chance, and an intelligent person to discuss things with, I can prove that there is no reasonable, functional, meaningful, non-self-contradictory definition of God. Steve, I think the problem is right there. You say that...

First off let me state that I really wasn't saying either side has better evidence. But people whom believe, think that the bible is valid evidence. They can't prove it is valid. And they can't prove the existence of God. And by the same token, you can't prove he/she/it doesn't exist. Both sides bel...

I don't think anyone who truly believes something will change their mind just by someone else telling them something. If that is all it takes for you to change your beliefs, then you probably didn't truly believe it. Once someone is set in his/her beliefs, they are very hard to change, even if the p...

What I'm excited about is that we will have website (apart from the forum) content open to registered users. I think it just has to do with the evidence. Theists believe the holy texts are truth, atheists don't. When two sides differ on the validity of the ecidence, it is going to be a lot harder for the sides to come to an understanding. For example, a typical debate: Theist: This is what I believe and wh...

I don't think many people will consider the first situation morally right. I mean if it likely that the baby and the mother will die during birth, it seems pretty silly that both should die. I don't think it would be murder, it is almost like a self-defense for the mother to protect herself. Now, if...
