I've really lost what your point was. It's unreasonable to be mean to these people because they had very valid reasons to be upset and speculate angrily and publicly about the evil things Obama was going to tell kids to do, except well maybe it wasn't so much valid as a vague string of coincidences,...

Look, I'd personally find the idea of the Queen or Prime Minister doing an tv address to schools creepy as f***, but then I get that feeling a lot with the American Presidency and it's not like Presidents haven’t done this before. The full section originally was: "Write letters to themselves about...

The only way to ensure your intellectual property rights are secure is to actively protect them. Think of certain trademarks that have overtaken the generic noun, e.g. xerox or kleenex. When this happens, courts can (and do) declare the trademarked term to be a generic word, destroying the trademar...

I love the wiki idea and I recall mediawiki and phpbb have a lot of plugins made by people trying to do pretty similar things so there's definite potential there.

On an unrelated note: Has it always said 'Ender's Games' at the top?

If you feel creative enough to be a writer, make up your own universe, don't pilfer somebody else's. I've got to take a little issue with this. I don't read a lot of fanfiction and I've never written any but I've heard people describe it as an excellent way to find your feet as a writer because hav...

Most states probate holographic wills, so it doesn't really need to be in legal terms. Even in states that don't, however, legal language isn't necessary as long as your intent is clear and you have attesting witnesses. For a moment there I was very excited as I thought you were talking about the n...

if I were to venture a guess, it'd be that snogging was popular slang when Rowling was in school. Yeah that makes sense, it just broke the suspension of disbelief for me a little. I'd really love to see what the complete edit was like, it's obviously been hacked to bits in places and I wonder if th...

Also as the board's token British person, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "snog" outside children's books. It's always seemed an ugly word to me, which is possibly the point - wouldn't want kids thinking there's anything fun about the opposite sex or anything. But then the treatment of sexu...

I saw it this morning, at exactly twelve. Also, they added in some random scene where they're at the Weasley's house or whatever, and they get attacked by some Death Eaters, with Harry acting like a dumb@ss and running after them by himself and then Ginny following him. Didn't see the point in the ...

Re: God as the Alpha and Omega of Morality

But I think it all comes down to receiving a witness directly from God, that I believe comes when one who is willing to act on whatever answer is received asks God, through prayer, in faith. Once a witness comes from God, then there begin to be a few 'concrete' elements that you know are true. From...

Much as I'm normally the one who tries to fix everything in life with a new tool (addicted to wikis) it's not really the technology that's at fault here as it is we simply have less people joining and older members finding less time for it. Which, you know, happens. I'm not really sure how facebook ...

I've forgotten why it started but the computer naming is a family thing, we tend to name computers after mathematicians and scientists. There was a brief period where we had a Schrodinger on the network but no one could spell it consistently enough to get at it's networked drives.

A Day In The Life of Yebra

I haven't really had a typical day in a while. I'm technically a uni student but my university for what I can only assume to be some kind of "must have this many weeks in academic year" purpose has three weeks trailing the end of exams in which almost nothing academic occurs. So we decided to use th...

We spent yesterday filming someone abseil down a four-story building whilst shooting people and I'm reviewing footage now of two people fighting - shot through the skull of a t-rex. I haven't really had a break since I finished exams but I'm loving this.

I just noticed (edit: err, I was told; but I guess being told made me notice?) that Alucard is Dracula backwards. I don't play Castlevania games or watch Hellsing or anything, but still.
