Re: Things that I love

With regard to the discussion of soul mates, one true love per person, etc: count me among the skeptics.

Choosing is a powerful act.

Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

Please, somebody help me out here. My mom sent me a cake recipe for Nom's birthday cake, and we've made it twice and it is dense like poundcake. No idea what I'm doing wrong, and yes, I know to beat the hell out of it with the electric mixer, and it ain't working. I'm looking for a basic white/vani...

Re: Wedding Planning!

I really want to write about my wedding day. I want to write about how David and I woke up in the morning and went to the farmers market to buy flowers. We stood in line to order an egg sandwich from the breakfast cart, and we were there so early the eggs hadn't even been unpacked yet. I want to wri...

Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

Gnocchi is relatively easy to make and freezes well.

Form them, freeze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet (not touching) and then when fully frozen, bag 'em. When ready to cook, do not defrost. Just plop into boiled water directly from freezer.

Re: My Life in a Literary Agency

Being on the other side of the fence is hard. I'm in contract negotiations right now with WH. These people were my former coworkers, and they're still my close friends, but we're in the midst of some pretty savage back-and-forth right now. I feel the pull of dual allegiances, and I know I need to cu...

Re: Currently Playing (CD/MP3)

Despite having tepid feelings about Taylor Swift at best, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is the second song of hers that I've found entirely infectious (the first being "Mean"). I just kind of have a passionate thing for teenagers and overly italicized speech (see: Salinger) and audible e...

Fifteen days. David and I get married in 15 days. So much is going on it's making my head spin. Therefore, lists (sort of). I've gone on an insane Etsy spree this week and, without exception, vendors have been lovely . Working with me to coordinate rush shipping (from Israel! From Lithuania! From Ha...

Ok, so who got hyper emotional (more so than usual, even) in the lead up to their wedding? I'm not talking about anxiety and frustration and lashing out and feeling stressed and overwhelmed--those were emotions I EXPECTED to feel, and yet I haven't. Instead I am just generally weepy, and deeply, dee...

We don't have tv, and it sucks that we can't watch it online. Lots of people are upset about the coverage, apparently. It made the Borowitz Report in the New Yorker.

SERAPHINA by Rachel Hartman. Deserves every starred review it got and then some. Fantastic, fantastic book that made me laugh aloud and cry, both.

Basically, if Tamora Pierce blurbs it, it's going to be my new favorite thing.
