Re: NaNoWriMo

Robot roll call! I actually managed to get ahead by a day this year. It just started happening randomly; I would finally get the swing of the writing right when I was about 200 words away from the daily goal, and suddenly it was 400 words later. It all worked out really well, since I traveled for Th...

Re: Confessions of a 20-something mother

When I hear someone say "you don't own a cat, a cat owns you' or similar s*****, I can't help but feel they live a sorry, embarrassing existence where they get value from a polite chuckle for their bland witticism. People who don't like cats tend to be terribly rude about it! It's dumb and they sho...

Re: Random things that remind you of PWEB or people here

I knew them well enough to miss them, but not enough to ever learn who they grew up to be. Man. Uh, anyway... Last week I drove between Portland and Boise, and had to return the rental car as the very last step of finally being back where I belong. I rented from a car lot in the airport, because PD...

Maybe I should explain that I can't become with child if either of us reads about other people's children.
I could have sworn it was one of those things that was contagious over text. Huh!

Anyway, weekly backups: cPanel's little friend to all database admins.

Since last winter with the polar vortex I have been anxiously awaiting proper winter weather. Finally, the biting cold! I can put on my hat and my sweater and drink hot tea and stock up on Irish cream.

And now they're saying 4-6 inches tomorrow, maybe! SO EXCITED. :frolic:

This 10 year old girl trashing veterans in Super Smash Bros made me think of Ender playing with the "big kids" in the game room.
Too bad it was probably all staged. :(

I put a ton of time into doing the worldbuilding for this though, so I want to get a real pay-off from it in terms of telling a complete story. I'm trying to use my actually built world this time. It's really helped me flesh out things, and actually have stuff to go into tangents about or just hint...

I am doing it again! You may notice even I kept away from this thread last year: I figured I had neither the time, energy, nor ideas.

But this year I have an idea that I've been prepping for since... sheesh, May? I have a map and towns and people and an outline. It's for reals.

What about you, elfy?

I've been playing Watch_Dogs, which is set in Chicago, and naturally I've been thinking of our favorite Chicagoans. I have no idea how accurate the map is, so naturally I just compare it to Nolan's Gotham, but I do have to wonder.

During a recent viewing of a Game of Thrones episode with some friends I started whistling the theme song, and my friends all marveled at my apparently excellent whistling skills. It made me think of something zero once said about how people apparently think he's an excellent whistler. Anyway! zero!...

No, but really, it was a D&D/tabletop RPG game, played with myself, Wil, my coworker, and a character probably made up for the dream. The unknown person had to answer a phone call, and while we were waiting my cowor...

That is actually a good question. Do you know if the gluten-free fad has significantly impacted wheat sales? Are companies buying less wheat? Or have they just increased their product lines?

Re: Yes, I know Google is my friend, but I'd rather ask you.

Here's an odd one: over Christmas I managed to tear an inch-long tear in my new jeans after a stupid accident involving polished wooden floors and a towel rack. The tear is right about at "short shorts" level, thus making the jeans entirely useless as jeans or even, were I to dare, as cutoffs. Does ...
