Oh, guess I failed to update our itinerary. Mama did that elsewhere, but she ain't here I s'pose. Highlights: Day 1 -- Hearst Castle Day 2 -- Bakersfield local attractions (this is more of a layover than a stop, I think, to prevent a really long one-day drive) Day 3 & 4 -- Skiing/snowboarding in...

Cross-posted: Aaaah!!! (Stressing over all these last-minute packing things.  And Mama's stressing more, because she's the competent one.) The car is pretty dang sweet, but yes, fitting everything is gonna be a problem (read: not happening).  I think some of our stuff is gonna go in the chaperones...

Update. We got an e-mail a couple days ago from Parenting magazine telling us more about our trip: Happy Friday winners of our family road trip! We hope you’re excited—it’ll be here in a zip! Your trip is finally coming together, I know it feels like it’s taken forever! You’ll be driving a...

Folks, it's super close -- the lead is going back and forth between Zev and another entry -- they seem to vote in bursts, which suggests (though not definitively) that they're getting around the one vote thing. Someone said that a mobile phone can have its wireless toggled (airplane setting or somes...

Totally will do. Hey, don't know if anyone here remembers Zevlag, but he's in an internet voting thing right now, too. A little less time-consuming, because it's one vote per IP, but if you'd like to help him out, the page is here . You know, if you need a little voting fix. It's a really tight race...

I apologize for letting a month go by. Thank you so much for those who voted. Yes, we won, and I'm told it was a record-breaking number of votes. We don't know much about the trip yet, except it should be in late March, and Safety First (tm) will be sponsoring it in part, providing us with new car s...

Yes, November 15th is the last day, we were told. Don't know if that's beginning of the 15th, end of the 15th, which time zone, etc. Our lead seems secure enough that other families have stopped trying, which is good I guess, but also sad in that last leaf falling sort of way.

I have no pictures. Both of my sons wished to wear their football uniforms to trick-or-treat. Then both were invited to Halloween parties -- with their teams. So Mooselet ended up going with Spongebob (had the costume from a play he was in last spring), and Superstation is going as a slightly modifi...

Thank you, all.

If only the voting ended today. But this is a marathon, not a sprint -- it goes until November 15th. We're in the lead, but a few thousand, surprisingly, isn't that big a cushion. I had no idea how stressful this was going to make my life for a month.

As a long-time Charger fan, I gotta say I haven't been very pleased with the season thus far. To add insult to injury, the home games haven't sold enough tickets, so haven't been televised locally (including me). All I've been able to see so far are the away games/losses. But hey, I've already seen ...

Yes, that was me. We had one mooseling at Endercon (Mooselet is the eldest's name, but they're all mooselings), and we've had three more since (Superstation, Squoose, and Witthany). They're an awfully cute group/tribe/herd/dray/scurry.

Hatrack, for the interested few

Don't know if there's a whole lot of overlap any more between pweb and Hatrack, but for those who do hang at Hatrack on occasion you may have noticed that the forums have been down for a while. There was a security problem somehow related to the forums, and it allowed people to use Hatrack's servers...

I found linear algebra mind-numbingly dull, too, despite liking the professor teaching it (I'd had several other classes from him). Easy, but dull. And for some reason I couldn't catch on to diff-eqs. Took and dropped and re-took and re-dropped that class a bunch of times, and finally got my advisor...
