Yes, I'm in Auckland, which is rather a distance away from the Earthquake (though I think right now the thoughts of everyone in the country are right there). My brother and his wife live in Christchurch - she works in the central city, which has some absolutely terrifying news at the moment. They're...

I haven't used the wi-fi at the library, but they have big signs directing you on how to use it scattered all over the library (which I haven't read, because, well, I haven't needed to use it). up until about a year ago, you needed a library card and pin to reserve and log on to computers in the ups...

Right now, I'm procrastinating. I have a 21st birthday 30cmx30cm double scrapbook page that I have to put together. One page about me, one page about the birthday girl.

(well, I'd probably start talking about missing out on the lavender ice-cream, but that's just me) On which note, we popped by the ice cream shop and they said that so long as we gave them 24 hours' notice, they could make it for us on request once it is in season. Not fair. Now I want Icecream. Of...

I've read some of his books from time to time - some when I was younger, others when I was older. I even had a map of the books at one point - I think I gave it to my mother the librarian. I've been making Christmas cards this week, and second guessing which ones look good.

Of course, then I managed to send them without taking photos of them. I'm silly like that sometimes.

I'm reading (partly rereading) the Vatta trilogy by Elizabeth Moon - from memory I started to get annoyed by it around book 3, which is where i'm up to this time.

I'm also reading Andrew Greeley's"Bishop and the Missing L Train" which I'm enjoying.

I was paying $137.50 a month for my bus fare, before I moved across town (technically, to another city. Only not really). Now it's $14 for 10 trips.

Some people manage to sell their stories, and there was one person of the day who is working on the first draft of a novel that has sold... so I think it would be fairer to say that "very few people" make any money out of it.
