Re: Ender vs Bean
I have to go with Ender all the way, he's an actual character, all Bean is anymore is Card's attempt to move on from the original Ender series. I point out these little clues. 1 In the Shadow series and Ender in Exile we find out Bean won the war NOT Ender, stated several times by Graff, Bean, Petr...

Re: Everything but "soda" is wrong
Or maybe the fact that there is a distinct difference between the three means that the context alone is enough to show the difference, rendering changes in pronunciation unnecessary.

Re: Determined to complain (about Earthborn).
I mentioned this in the other Homecoming thread, but yeah, Homecoming and Alvin Maker aren't my favorites so far. They're an interesting read, but I prefer his books that are openly religious. I think he's just trying to reconcile his beliefs with his experiences. He sounds preachy because he's basi...

Re: HomeComing
Being a Mormon myself, I haven't enjoyed Homecoming and Maker as much as Card's other stories, mostly because in the back of my mind I'm always thinking of how it relates to the Book of Mormon or Joseph Smith. It keeps coming to me as . . . Sunday School on crack, I guess. I prefer his Women of Gene...

Re: Reaction to Enders Game
I don't think I was ready for Ender's Game the first time I read it. But then I read the Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide several years later and was all like Recently I went back and reread Ender's Game. I appreciated it a lot more, but I still like Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide better.

Re: Movie will be Ender's Game + Ender's Shadow?
I think they're just going to include Bean figuring out everything he did from hacking and climbing through the vents, as well as his interactions with Graff - the parts that contribute to the main storyline of Ender's Game. I don't think they'll do much of his backstory. They might show Bean changi...
