Welcome Sumerset,

Also new here. I'm 14 so I guess we nearly have age in common. I'm also an avid reader which people find odd for someone my age, and I am possibly the youngest member on this site. Looking forward to hearing some of your opinions in the forum!

To answer your question ptr.arkanian, there is a HUGE line between Peter and Achilles. First of all, Achilles was sickened by weakness and murdered anyone who saw him in his weakened state. Sure both Peter and Achilles were searching for power, but Peter mainly just wanted to go down in history like...

Its dramatic irony in the sense that WE(the reader) know the real personalities of Peter and Ender while the rest of the characters only know what the textbooks have told them. Ender might have been an innocent child who's mind was being manipulated by desperate people, but the future generations on...

That is true. I didnt really take numbers into consideration, but you cant say that Ender was thinking straight in the first place. He came to the conclusion that it was the best thing to do not because it WAS, but because his feelings of anger and frustration led him to that decision. In hindsight ...

Well it's a hypothetical question that no one will really know but the whole reason that Ender thought up the idea was from sheer frustration. If Ender would have gathered together his elite group, they may have come up with something eventually. I think that Ender knows he could have formulated ano...

I agree with Simic. I could justify killing Stilson and Bonzo because I was protecting myself from harm and the buggers nearly wiped out my entire species....TWICE. The killing of the soldiers would have wounded my conscience the most because Ender could have easily used another strategy to destroy ...

Frie0371-To reply to your opinion about how their were so many children who were well above average capabilities, you have to remember how far into the future that this book is based. The book takes place hundreds of years into the future. Let's say that the population was doubled, increasing the ch...

If CG is used, I would be utterly disappointed. It would be like watching Beowulf with little kids! I hope that OSC is relying on the feedback of EG fans to produce it because an all CG movie would just be sad. They also need to get an AMAZING chld to play ender because if they mess his character up...

The media is afraid of what individuals as a group can accomplish. We live in a country where the "people" or "taxpayers" make the choices. The government knows this and is trying to shy away from widespread rallies and protests. With media blackout of this story, they are not on...

As much as I commend these protesters for standing up for what they believe in, what did they expect to accomplish? The government doesn't care if their are "some" people who dislike fighting in foreign countries. To even make your ideas heard you have to have millions of devoted followers...

The idea of children partaking in matters of war is a very sensitive subject indeed. This is a "what-if" situation that no one can know the answer to, but I believe that sooner or later adults will have to submit to the fact that children are our future and should be included in important ...
