Re: Reaction to Enders Game

Don't get me wrong Enders Game is a good book. However, I feel it is very overrated. It was incredibly predictable and repetitive. I do think it would be a good book to have middle schoolers read, I know I would have appreciated it more at that age. read SPEAKER FOR THE DEAD and then tell me afterw...

I didn't like the graphics from the First Meetings collection of short stories. Ender looked sort of like an emo kid.

What the hell is lawn tennis?-Miro

Who's stupid idea was it to park the helicopter on the roof?-Achilles

Go suck on it.-Bean

It's always my war.-Ender[/i]

Rofl "what the hell is lawn tennis?" that cracked me up for the rest of the day. I can't believe Ender said it.

The whole Speaker series and Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Giant were my favorites...Shadow Puppets and Shadow of the Hegemon didn't really appeal to me...
Im reading Shadow puppets right now and the whole military aspects of it are a bore. Give me Speaker for the Dead and the pequinoes any day.

Ender, Batman, and John Connor; three of my favourite fictional characters all played by the same guy... That would just be weird.
Have you seen Christian Bale's performance in the movie Equilibrium? It's a stellar movie; a definite must see if you're into the scifi genre.

No duhr. When I first read Ender, I was in 6th Grade. I was always the smartest kid in the class, and *couch* don't mean anything, but I was pretty popular and nice. The people respected my views, I guess. However, even when I tried showing Ender's Game to some friends, they took one look at the co...

I always pictured them something like actors I've seen before. Adult Ender I always pictured as Christian Bale with a beard and longish hair. Young Valentine to me would look like Clea DuVall and Peter would be Hayden Christiensen, circa Life As A House. Novinha I pictured as Paz Vega. Adult Valent...

I think Beans love life was way more interesting the Enders. Ender and Novinha were kinda boring. Bean and Petra had some life to them. Anyone else agree? okay yes thank you!!! I've been trying to make this point on other message forums. I don't think there was any love really. Just a common goal, ...

I'm not referring to Bean's genetics or any other biological/genetic component when I say he doesn't come across as human enough to me; I am referring to his personality. In reference to the humanity of Bean, Petra is very much so human she responded emotionally to Bean in a "loving" way. I didn't feel that his genetic abnormality made him less human. What is the true meaning of human to be exact? Any form of disease can be considered a genetic abnormality,...

When you think Novinha is crazy and you ponder better companionship choices for Ender. Novinha is crazy. But I sort of resent people thinking that makes her undeserving of Ender. No, I don't think that he could have done the things that he did if not for them. As we see in Xenocide, he's internalized Peter and Val to such an extent that they represent the two extremes of his personality in his own mind. Ender feels guilt and empathy when he hurts people because he knows tha...

How old were they when they got married/pregnant?

character favs

I liked Virlomi . In Shadow Puppets , the way she causes an uprising in India on the basis of stone walls was truly masterful! Secondly, Alessandra was interesting, however short-lived her character role was in Ender in Exile . Petra in Shadow of the Hegemon she behaved so quick-witted. Later in Sha...

Ender, Jane, Novinha.
wow? really?! someone out there actually valued Novinha as a character...i never believed that Ender actually loved her. In my opinion, he saw her as a 'project.' Novinha was someone Ender wanted to fix mentally and emotionally.
