Re: "I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE AND I MUST TALK ABOUT IT" Thread

Saw it last night (yes, finally!) Here's the quick and dirty: I really enjoyed it. Loved Asa as Ender. Loved. Loved the Battle Room. Loved the score. Loved the depiction of the final 'simulation'. Only real frustration was the lack of sense of passage of time. It really was breakneck speed through t...

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)

The break until the 50th gives me a great opportunity to catch up on Classic Docs. While there's some great and imortant episodes, there's also a lot of... drawn out tediousness in the early days. I'm making a list of 'must see' episodes for those interested in checking out important or fun developm...

SEASON 7 FINALE SPOILERS * * * * It looks like they're going to grapple full-on with 11's grappling with what appears to be the inevitability of becoming the Valeyard. It Looks like Hurt's Ex-Doctor (Doctor X? :) ) shows that its a stark reality, because something like it has happened before. Also, ...

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)

Wow. That was certainly a game-changer of a Season Finale. Amazing stuff, and explains why the creators haven't given in and shown the fans something perceived to be missing they'd all wanted to see... The only good thing about the wait until the 50th Anniversary in November is that it gives me more...

Re: The trailer

After well over a decade of anticipation, I have to say... I'm very, very pleased with the teaser trailer. OSC has been telling us time and again that the movie isn't OSC's Ender's Game, it's Gavin Hood's making the best film possible based on and using the concepts, themes, and characters explored ...

Anne and Star Wars update - Last week, we watched Return of the Jedi. Her one-word review: "Hilarious". The scariest part for her? The fact that Yoda died of Old Age. Another observation: "Oh! So Anakin was just hiding in the Darth Vader costume this whole time!" And then we watc...

Re: Star Wars

I've been introducing my just-turned-3-year-old girl (February 18th was her third birthday!) to Star Wars, bit by bit. I weaned her in with YouTubed episodes of the old 80's DROIDS cartoon - which made her a fan of R2-D2 and C-3PO. From then on, she was excited to watch A NEW HOPE, because Artoo and...

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)

The Snowmen was SO much fun. Since the beginning of Season 7, we've been having little Doctor Who Parties. I've gotten my wife's siblings hooked, and 'cause they live just 20 minutes away, we get a house full of Who fans - including my almost-3-year-old daughter, who LOVES Doctor Who. And the Daleks...

I just watched Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead again, from Season 4. To be more accurate, I just flipped through to watch the moments with River and the Doctor. The ending of Forest of the Dead had a heavy impact the first time I saw it, and now, after actually seeing the relationship betw...

Loved DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP. Loved Rory's dad. Hey, where are all our Whovians? Here! Here! I didn't watch it till last night. The dinosaurs were a bit silly, but totally Doctor Who, so I loved them. It seems like there's some seeds being planted here for the future - one being the Doctor as an ...

Not gonna lie - I think the Formic Wars novels have far more movie potential, so far, than any of the others for an immediate movie sequel.
