Yeah. The game is such a potent metaphor right now! You might enjoy Gamer Theory by McKenzie Wark. He basically uses the persona of the gamer to describe the individual's existence and navigation through the current cosmographies of the status quo. It's a bit of a manifesto, but he just throws some ...

I second the recommendation of Robert Anton Wilson's stuff. Grand masta discordian he be. Also, the film Maybe Logic, which features RAW blathering on in his home in the later years, is a fun watch. Also, in a similar vein: Poker Without Cards . The full text is online. It's about media framing, buc...

Argh.. It's a toss up between Speaker and Xenocide, por moi. The enjoyment I got from Xenocide was fundamentally rooted in Speaker, and moreover Speaker can stand alone IMO. A monolith. Xenocide was a friggin' good time, tho. :D

If you love Ender, read Speaker for the Dead & Xenocide. (And, subsequently, Children of the Mind) Speaker and Xenocide were responsible for blowing my mind. Ender's a medicine man of the human spirit. Nuff said.

Gah! EarthPrime, our local store, is carrying the EG series, and they've got the first two parts of Ender's Shadow, too! I just got 1 & 2 of EG. I've been neck-deep in schoolwork all week and I can't think of a better way to give myself some mind candy. NERDGAZM.

Will report back... :D

In any case, since Ender is much smarter than any of us, I just figured that he was teasing poor Abra to some extent, although it seems cruel since Abra isn't too "book smart" but he hangs on Ender's every word, so he may have a messed up understanding of probability for the rest of his l...

Theoretical Probability in EiE

I wanted to know if any math nerdz could expand on this for me... There's a part of EiE where Abra and Ender are talking about the likelihood of finding another cave with living [gold] bugs inside, after Po and Sel found one with recently-dead bugs and a live larvae... Excerpt: "Just because th...

I really enjoyed reading it too. I felt that EiE brought the reader closer to Ender than any of the other books in the EG series... with the exception of Ender's Game itself. It was a nice little re-union between reader and Ender. :P

Also, cool that Valentine got some play, too.
