I'll tell you this, I'm not a judge of the quality of writing. I'm not a career author and don't claim to be a good one, and I'm not an expert of who is or isn't. I am simply a man who likes stories. I am a judge of story content. The Narnia books were, to me, uninteresting and stupid. The quality o...

Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is Alright
My favorite song ever. It's like personal anthem.

I bought the newest In Flames album on Thursday, and can't stop listening to it. Scandinavians write the most melodic metal.

It's easier to relate to Peter than Ender, plus the Shadow series was on Earth and contained only humans. I had a much easier time getting into the mind and hearts of the characters and enjoyed myself more.

Theology and propaganda aside, the Narnia books are boring as hell. Its just not entertaining, And the characters are completely uninteresting. Lewis could indoctrinate all he wanted, but couldn't write a decent book to save his life.

You know, this is the oddest thing: I support Clinton over Obama, on the one hand, for several reasons that I won't go into here. But what's most important to me right now is that McCain keep his lead. Because if he does, from my standpoint at least, come November we will basically have a win/win s...

The Q'uran isn't the only source of Islam, as the Bible isn't the only source of Christianity. Tradition and history play as much a role in the "soul" of a religion as texts and scripture. Atrocities have been committed in the name of Islam for centuries, that's quite a history and tradit...

Come on yall, it wasn't supposed to be some grand epic. It takes place while he's in battle school so we already know the outcome of any major conflict Card could have imagined, this anecdote just makes Enders character more exceptional. Just think of A War of Gifts as an expansion pack to Enders Ga...

A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius by David Eggers is great. It's all about the irony, but while trying to specifically avoid actually BEING what is says it is, it does break your heart, and at times does reach the point of staggering genius. It's subtle, it's disarming, it's funny, it's ten...

I have to say, I am super impressed with these forums and the people here. Considering the content of the inspiration for this forum, I should have expected this, but the community here is way more intelligent than any other forum I have been a part of, while not being overwhelmingly elitist and exc...

I think humans are inherently egocentrical. :D Quite. A fictional wise man once speculated that evolution can't produce a species that hasn't a will to survive. Surviving requires caring more for the need of the self than for the need of the other. If that isn't the very definition of egotism, it's...

With everything in Children of the Mind being all abstract and theoretical, all of Circa Survive's lyrics put me in the same state of mind that said book does. For example: You are in my dreams Half human, half machine You are someone else that I have felt and seen I cannot rest on my consciousness ...

Romney and Edwards are the only candidates who have impressed me. Unfortunately, I have little faith that either of them will recieve nomination. Edwards has all but withdrawn, and Romney can't compete with McCains primary victories, legitimate military record, and general common man demeanor. McCai...

Peter only had seventy-something years and his species to help, which he did more than anybody else. Although Ender probably had a more impressive resume of greatness than Peter, Ender cheated death for 3000 years and had access to 4 raman species. Peter was far more efficient with his deeds.

Peter was never fully alert and comprehending in situations of panic or that he didn't plan for. Bonzo would have killed Peter in the showers. Plus Peter would have been bigger than Ender, perhaps as big as Bonzo, so the others would have helped Bonzo subdue Peter.

Somewhere in Enders Game Valentine is thinking to herself and says something along the lines of, "We inevitably become what we pretend to be". She was realizing how much she agrees with her writings of Demosthenes occasionally.

His Dark Materials is my favorite book series. Ender etc. is a close second to those masterpieces. The deep theology is something that hasn't been matched in literature, to my knowledge, since. I did sit through the whole movie, sadly, and cried, thoroughly. Probably the most awful rendering of a bo...
